Question Frame for 66 SWB 4X4

I'm looking to stock up for my next project. I am planning on buying a 66 cab and I want to build a SWB 4x4. I've spent some time researching and I've got a question about frames. Since I don't have a frame, what should I look for? How close (in length) is a 73-87 SWB frame to the length that would be needed to build a regular-sized 66 SWB 4x4. I'm a ways off, but having a plan on what I need to buy is always a good idea. Thanks, Jeremy.

Re: Frame for 66 SWB 4X4

I have a 76 short 4x4 frame and my 61 4x4. I'll check the differance in wheelbase for you.

Thanks. I'm in no hurry, but just wanting to know what would be best. I'm sure someone has done it. I'd just like to find out which requires the least cutting.

Re: Frame for 66 SWB 4X4

If you were to use a '67-'72 frame, you would have less work to do if any for cab and body mounts. If you use a '73-'87 frame, you'll have to build most all new frame brackets for the cab and body mounts.
