Another Gen lll Question
What oil pans work in our trucks?
Nevermind I searched harder and found some info. But still have ?'s I hear of the Caddy CTS-V pan being used, also the stock truck pan. Which works best? Also which motor mount location works best? The I6 one or the V8 one? Thanks Last edited by LuckyHenriksen; 11-27-2008 at 01:51 AM. |

Re: Another Gen lll Question
Don't have one yet, Im in the planning stage. I'll definitely post up tons of pics when I get my s*** together! (Im a pic whore)
So a stock truck pan will fit stock or static drop suspension? How about positioning the motor mount stands? |

Re: Another Gen lll Question
I used the ECE mounts, and am using the stock LQ4 pan with no problems.
Side note, you can't pull the pan with the motor installed though. |

Re: Another Gen lll Question
Ok cool, thanks for the responses. So either will work, the CTS-V pan just doesn't hang down as far?
And its ok about not being able to pull it without taking the motor out, I can't get my small block's out either. |

Re: Another Gen lll Question
Here is a pic of my 2007 5.3 with original truck pan. It sits pretty low, i may make a skid plate for it.. I am using performance online tubular mounts.

Re: Another Gen lll Question
Sweet, thanks for posting up the pics guys. I'll keep an eye out for a Caddy pan! Might have to give in and buy one from a GM dealer.

Re: Another Gen lll Question
If you have to buy a new one you might as well get a camaro pan new form gm. You for sure don't want a truck pan if your are going to be low.

Re: Another Gen lll Question
So most if not all of the pans will fit the trucks cross member?

Re: Another Gen lll Question
That depends on the engine mounts you use. The camaro pan WILL NOT work with the ECE mounts. The truck and the caddy work well with (ECE and the plate type mounts (S&P, CPP, etc), but the truck pan hangs down below the front crossmember. If you're not going very low chassis wise, the truck will work well. If you're slamming the chassis, I would switch to the camaro or the Caddy. I personally like the cadddy one because the oil drain is in the back, but that's just me.........

Re: Another Gen lll Question
You will have to use some form of modified mounts. The factory ones will not work "as is". R/
