Original Big Block Engine Info?

I'm looking for more information about Big Blocks in the 67-72 chevy trucks; specifically about the 68. 1968 was the first year for the 396 big block in the chevy trucks. I am curious about the numbers and date codes of the 68 and if anyone has an original 68 BB that they could share there casting numbers and date codes; I know alot of people don't care or think it matters on these trucks, but I m curious and would like to learn more on this.

1) Engine Block
2) Heads
3) Exhaust Manifolds
4) Intake Manifolds

I am basicaly verifying my numbers and curious about others

My block number on mine is:
TO305XG
which I believe to translate to being built in T = Tonawando NY (as all BB's)
on 0305 = March 5,
XG = 396ci-v8 BB 3spd Auto A.I.R 4bbl
The year then can be obtained from the back of the block;
3935440-S translates to be a 68-69 396 2 or 4 bolt main.

The heads I am not sure about I know for sure one was changed.

Exhaust Manifolds are :
Lt = 3909880 date coded L227 = (12/22/1967)
Rt = 3909879 date coded J67 = (10/6/1967)

I need to get my Intake # and casting date

I am also trying to find out if the 68 396 came with a 5 blade fan originally?

Any one that has any additional info would be appreciated...Thanks

Re: Original Big Block Engine Info?

I should be able to identify most of your casting numbers if that helps you. (Intake, carb, dist, etc...)
