700r4 and a bigger gas tank
Ok so i have been driving my burb alot more since gas went down. my tank seems pretty small for the size of the truck. I was wondering what size gas tank will fit and give more gas. The other thing I want to do is put a 700r4 in my rig. It is a 4x4 and what year tranny is best. I want to keep my NP 205 t-case. I was told that their is a certian years of 700's that are best and have the right parts. Thanks

Re: 700r4 and a bigger gas tank
What you want is the latest model 700 that will fit to your Tcase. I would think you should be able to find one from a late 80's early 90's. Not sure but believe that there were updates to the pump. I put a 88 firebird 700 behind a zz502 = 500 hp big block in my Chevelle, and it stayed together with my right foot

Re: 700r4 and a bigger gas tank
I was told that there is a certain tranny to get so that my T-case adapter will bolt to. It doesn't seem right though. Shouldn't all 700's have the same output shaft size/spline and bolt pattern for the tailshaft housing. My adapter bolts where the tailshaft housing goes.

Re: 700r4 and a bigger gas tank
You can do a search on Pirate 4x4 for NP 205 and Grumpy has a whole thread on the adapters and coupler lengths. You should find what you need there. They are not big fans of 700R4's so keep that in mind. It is a hardcore 4x4 website and they don't worry too much about overdrives on hardcore trail rigs.
