Remove Molding or Not???
Hey guys I hope to get a little work done to the truck over the Christmas break! I am thinking about removing the lower molding and welding the holes as I prep the truck for paint. Post pics of long bed trucks without lower moulding if you have them. Also lend me your opinion on the molding removal. Thanks in advance.

Re: Remove Molding or Not???
Hard to say, what color are you going to paint it?
Nice hubcaps.

Re: Remove Molding or Not???
I am thinking white or gray for the color! Thanks for the hubcaps I really appreciate being able to take the GMC ones off. I plan to paint them up real nice. It is so silly but I plan to put a lot of detail into this truck but keep it simple. I love a old chevy trucks that is just clean and not overdone... This is going to be the perfect tow truck. I still have my shortbed to trick out also... Did I mention I am a Ford guy or now you can just classify me as "True American Steel"

Re: Remove Molding or Not???
I've got a 72 Jimmy and removed all the emblems and trim. I like the clean look. If I ever decided to add the trim back I would use the two sided tape. But I doubt I will.

Re: Remove Molding or Not???
I took mine off as I hated them now that they are off I am not sure I want that either. Mine were really rough looking and I think if they are very nice or repros they look very nice. I guess I will more than likely put some new ones on when I paint.

Re: Remove Molding or Not???
If you want a classic look, leave the molding on. If you want it to look like every other truck, take it off. This is just my opinion. Opinions are like @ssholes........................................
Check the FAQ. There are instructions in their.

Re: Remove Molding or Not???
I say leave the trim. I thought about taking mine off too but, it looks like its missing something to me.. Again, though its your truck you should make it how you want it.

Re: Remove Molding or Not???
if the truck is fairly stock looking, then it looks like a striped down verson if it doesn't have the trim... and upper with no lower just looks funny (even though they sold tham like that)

Re: Remove Molding or Not???
I am a fan of both sets of trim, but this is how mine came from the factory. To each his own.

Re: Remove Molding or Not???
I think trim is an upgrade, I like upgrades. Helps that I like the look of trim too. I hate to see good trim removed, but if it is all jacked up then it is more understandable, but then again it's all about what looks good to you. I think my truck looks good without the trim, but it's a stepside too.

Re: Remove Molding or Not???
I took mine off. Molding looks good when its in great shape, but mine wasn't very pretty, so before I sent the truck off to paint I pulled all my trim off
