New wheels and tires-Keep vintage look or restore?
I finally received my new wheels and tires. I know the TT II's are a "dime a dozen", but I love the look and couldn't resist. Before and after. I hope you like it too.
BYW, thinking about keeping the body and paint "as is" vs total restoration. I sort a like the rat rod look. What do you think? Does anyone know a company who can match "oxidized blue"... seriously?

*****in' Truck. Love the rims. I would prime it. I've never really cared for the "patina" look.

Re: New wheels and tires-Keep vintage look or restore?
there are a set of 17x8 & 17x9 polished torq thrust on Tulsa craigslist but they are listed goofy, he is wanting $ 500 with 3 tires but the tires are car size for a caprice wagon. I would buy them but with the economy the way it is and my company slowing way down, I ain't getting them.

Re: New wheels and tires-Keep vintage look or restore?
Truck looks great! As for the TT's, I don't think they're overused, they're popular for the same reason people like rally's, they look good.
BTW, drive it as-is, they're only original once, so enjoy it.

Re: New wheels and tires-Keep vintage look or restore?
Thanks guys. I really appreciate it! I'm trying my best to "represent" how cool our trucks can be!!
Here are the details: Wheels: Front = 18x8 , 4.5" BS Rear = 20x10, 5" BS Tires: 255/45R18 (Toyo Proxies STII) 295/40R20 Drop: Front = 2.5" dropped spindles (CPP) 2" dropped front coils Rear = 5" Dropped coils (CPP) 1" lowering block Also "c" notched (not sure if it was necessary, but I did it anyway).

Looks great. People pay thousands to duplicate that look. Keep it like that IMO.

Re: New wheels and tires-Keep vintage look or restore?
American Racing. Initally, I was going to go with this set (pic below) but decided to get the polished set. This was the truck that inspired me the most...The guy who owned it was pretty cool as well...

Re: New wheels and tires-Keep vintage look or restore?
X 2. You nailed it! Drive it like it is and don't worry about door dings. Clean up the drivetrain, brakes, wiring, bugs and have fun in my opinion. Powel72's blue/white shorty made Classic Trucks mag in similar shape.

I like the Patina. Too nice the way it is, to restore. I'd drive the wheels off of it!

Re: New wheels and tires-Keep vintage look or restore?
Thank you, everyone for the comments!!! This is a great board with some fabulous members!
My wife says "Paint it" but I really wanted to just repair what was bad and keep everything else the same (exterior). Does anyone have pics of their orginial unrestored "patina" trucks?????? Maybe I can show my wife how popular "oxidized" paint really is. Here's my other trucks...one I gave to my dad (patina green) and the other green and white one is just a daily driver (4 spd granny).
