What did you get done? 12/07
I spent the weekend planning an unexpected trip out of town. Watched my daughter play in her first volleyball tournament of the club season.
What did you get done?

Celebrated my birthday, shoveled snow, finished up the wiring on my 73...and watched the Vikings almost lose to the Lions!

Bolted on the Chevelle mirrors, I like them. Decided the Heap is going to get "bagged". I hope to get started on it after the first of the year.

Re: What did you get done? 12/07
Finally got my new rims on. Actually, I had mounted them and photographed the operation a few weeks ago, so I guess you could say, what I got done this weekend was to up load these to share...
Here's the old patina'd steel Cragars. Here's the new look... Sticker says BFG 275/60R15, they're mounted on silver Aero 15X8's with 4" bs. That's a chiminea(sp?) behind my new tire/rim, not a funny hat. The others are my old rear tire, 295/50R15, and front, 255/60R15. I believe(cant remember or find my pics with the tape) my old rear was just under 11.5 inches wide and the new ones are 9.5-10. Don't quote me, please... Photos of the truck to follow on my build thread! |

Happy Birthday Jeff!
Too cold to work on any of my outside projects so, we put up our christmas tree today. Went to a christmas parade yesterday though. Put the '87 in the parade. Here's a few pics. You can actually see a few snow flakes in the first picture. We're in the Corvette capitol of the US - KY

Re: What did you get done? 12/07
Cleaned and painted my new intake not bad for roughly $30 dollars including the intake:
Also painted the block/heads. I painted the heads the same aluminum color as the intake to give it the look of alum heads. I think it looks good against the chevy orange block!! Ordered my new cam and will place another order for a timing cover and new valve springs/retainers/locks and seals.

Re: What did you get done? 12/07
Spent the first part of the day cleaning out the garage so my truck would fit inside. Got a call from the bodyshop and they told me my truck was on its way over on the flatbed. Today is a happy day.

Re: What did you get done? 12/07
i went shopping for a new truck. When i say new i mean used.. living in NYC i refuse to pay good money to leave it on the street. The problem is i cannot find a decent silverado 4X4 ECSB for under $8K with less than 100K on it thats actually decent..

Re: What did you get done? 12/07
busy busy buisy
sold my 84 short wide ,gave it a good new home and of course turned around and bought a 88 blazer 350 auto 4x4 I'm not a 4x4 guy and this thing is hurting . the diff ratios are not matched front to rear . prev owner blew the rear out and swapped in a new setup to keep going . the front end is worn out and wanders all over the road but it was cheap and is a very solid body so here's my idea {feel free to try to talk me out of it cuz it 's a LOT of work} . I have a 2wd 88 suburban parts truck and am thinking of swapping in the 2wd set up to the blazer. the only thing I'll have to find is a tranny and have a drive shaft mocked up

Re: What did you get done? 12/07
Grabbed some stuff from my folks barn while I was passing through. Grabbed two good 67-72 fleet bumpers, a set of rally wheels, and a crate with two Holley and one Q-jet carb. Dad went up to help me, and I showed him 4 blocks of mine that have been in there for years, for some reason he forgot? There's two 396's, a pontiac 400, and get this...a chevy 302. He was scratching his head the rest of the day talking about how he never knew I had a that 302.
Also picked up a little Christmas gift for Dad, an original steering wheel for his '62 Nova. I'll restore it after I give it to him, pretty good deal at $75 these are hard to find:

Re: What did you get done? 12/07
Replaced a passenger side door latch in my 79LB, then cleaned and detailed it. On a side note, if I ever run into the GM engineer that designed those spring clips that the secures the latch rods, I'm going to kick his a#@. There's no room to maneuver inside the door, and they love to fly completely off before you can get the rods through, not to mention the rods have to protrude just right for them to close and mesh with the groove in the rods.

Re: What did you get done? 12/07
Got the '73 running pretty good. Put in new plugs (again), wires, cap and rotor. My bro-in-law tuned the rebuilt q-jet and set the timing. I also repacked the front wheel bearings and slapped on some new brake pads. On Sunday I hooked up and adjusted the electric choke so I can start her a little easier in the cold weather.
