Im sure this has been asked a hundred time but what is the best way to do this. I would love to get some insight.

A 69-72 Blazer tank seems to be the prefered method. It fits between the frame rails, the bazer straps fit the tank and the frame, it has all the inlets/outlets for these trucks.

The only thing you have to concider is where you are going to put the filler neck. Alot of guys have put them in the bed in various configurations, a few have hidden them behind a taillight or side marker and still yet some others have grafted a fuel door from another vehicle into the bedside.

All the various places to locate the fillerneck look good, it's just a matter of what will work for you/ how involved do you want to get.

In the bed floor is probably the easiest, inside the bed on the bedside isn't hard, behind the sidemarker is fairly simple but can be time consuming and behind the tail light or in the stake pocket would be the two most involved.

You can find any of these through the search feature for further referance.

I'm not sure where the Blazer tank mounts but if it was to be infront of the rear axle I always thought I would leave the filler neck where it is run the fill pipe down trough the floor then back to the tank.

What do you do about the existing filler neck on the cab. Is there any place that sells a patch for them?

There are patch panels avaiable for the tank hole,though I don't remember who has them a vendor can probably help.The Blazer tank works well though there is some interference from a frame crossmember.The fuel line is simple on a LWB since a Suburban line should work out almost if not perfect.The drawback I have seen posted is that the Blazer tank does hang down and shows below the bumper(depending on the bumper used.
I personally have never had a problem with the Blazer tank and have run them in every 67-72 I have owned.That is because they are the same on Panels and I've only owned 67-72 trucks in a Panel body style.

sick 69 is that a lwb frame, I'm trying to figure out how much room I'm going to have to put my air tank behind or infront of the tank. This is the size do you believe it will fit without problems? Length - 32"
Diameter - 9.5"
Height with legs - 11.5"

i got my filler neck patch panel from a guy on ebay. paid $12bucks and it was a perfect fit. only thing was it took 3weeks cause the dude was from canada. just type in 67-72 patch panel under ebay car and truck parts. sellers name is infanti72

When you use the blazer tank the bed sill that runs above it has to be trimmed.

Those aren't my pics. I have the tank,straps but haven't put them in yet. I did get the filler neck put it behind the sidemarker light, but thats as far as it went before the weather hit the cold mark. Weather is starting to warm up so I'll get back on it asap.

There are a few options, you can purchase a aluminum tank from Fuel Cell guy who is a member on this board, you can purchase from nolimit.net etc as well. I have attached a nolimit tank that we installed in my son's '67

Here are the pics. $150 summit universal tank. The top supports are 1" square tubing and the straps I bent up from some 1/16" 1" flat. The current filler location hits right on the bed crossmember. I am going to box that area in underneath and have a flip open door in the bed, or move the fill cap to one of the corners of the tank, or put a 90 degree off of the top and route it out to the side. Anyway I think it is a pretty inexpensive tank relocation.
