Cool Bought another truck--so I thought

Dec. 4th I made a purchase on ebay. 1971 chev 3/4 4x4 350 700r4 np205.
($1350). I should have left the next day to go get it,but the snow was falling so I called the guy to see if it could sit for two weeks..He just called and told me that the bank took the truck because of his bank issuses.Luckily I agreed to pay him in full at time of delivery. But the next project is now gone!!..SUXX..THANKS FOR LOOKING..JZ

You know, that`s not a bad idea, unless the lien is more than the Ebay price. But,you may be able to convince the bank you are entitled to first right to refusal. You and the seller are bound buy a legal contract, right? At least as far as you knew.

Re: Bought another truck--so I thought

I dunno man.... Sounds fishy to me.... Do you really think the bank would hold the title for a truck that really wasn't worth that much $$$$? Im thinking he had it advertised other places for more $$$$ and somebody else bought it for more... Sounded like a great deal for $1350.00... Maybe its true but I guess I am jaded from past experiences...

Man,that sucks. But,sounds like it coulda been worse. This makes me think the bank had a lien and he wouldn`t have been able to provide a clear title.I`d be thankful for the snow.

Re: Bought another truck--so I thought

Turn him into Ebay, wonder if you will see it again on another auction or craigs list. I'm sure someone offered him a better price off line. If he would have showed the ebay auction a bank would have waited or contacted you, unless he owes more than the bid price. sounds pretty fishy to me,, I guess count your losses and run.

Re: Bought another truck--so I thought

I have to hoist the B.S flag. As soon as I read the part about the bank coming to get a $1350 truck, I had a feeling someone was LYING... and the BMW ID tag???? HUH!?!? I wonder where this truck was stolen from??? Run, do not walk, away from this potential nightmare! Turn him in to whoever you can. If he did nothing wrong, it will come out,and vice versa. like Grand dad always said "If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is."

Banks don't loan money on cars older then 5 years anyway, at least nothing that cheap. It was a scam, feel lucky you didn't waste any more time.

Really. Then I wonder why the title for the 1948 GMC my dad bought showed that the previous owner had a lien on it? He was a farmer. He only owned the truck since 1991. They do weird stuff as far as banks and financing go. I am sure he did this to depreciate it on his taxes, as he told me dad he only gave $1500 for it. Be careful with blanket generalizations. I will agree that in most cases, banks do not loan money on older vehicles, but there are exceptions.

Re: Bought another truck--so I thought

I`ve seen collateral loans made on older vehicles. But,I don`t believe it here.I agree that it prolly sold locally for his asking price which was more than what it brought on Ebay.I guess we see it mentioned,"listed locally",and I don`t know if this one was. But,you need to end the sale on Ebay before it runs through...sniff sniff,I smell fish.

real link;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...8917&viewitem=

The numbers on this match a BMW? Did you contact the Indiana BMV and get that info?

Smells sorty fishy, but ... if it was a scam... he'd HAVE YOUR MONEY!
If he doesn't have your money, then no one has been done wrong here really.

Yeah point #1 never buy from someone with untrusted or ZERO feedback record on eBay. But more than that, there are too many unanswered questions about this transaction.

Count your blessings and move on.

It is now for sale on the truck forum . Look for the '48 GMC. It was the only flat bed 1 1/2 ton there the last time I looked.

Re: Bought another truck--so I thought

I don't think this tag has anything to do with a "BMW"! The tag is a "BMV" tag, note the V versus W on the tag. I'm originally from Indiana, but all states have a similar procedure, and the BMV references a "Bureau of Motor Vehicles" issued number. You can get a new title if you "construct" a vehicle and don't have a title for the vehicle you started with. Or, if you are putting a different cab on the truck and your old title for the balance of the vehicle doesn't match the cab VIN plate.

I still think the bank coming to get a $1,350.00 truck is BS. More than likely, someone BIGGER than the owner came and took it away for money owed!!
