You might be a redneck

... if the guy you sold you truck to (me) is parting it out and finds enough shot gun shells to go hunting without taking any new shells. I also could not get the ash tray open. WhenI fianlly got it out, it had $14 worth of change in it...

just a heads up. I am going to be posting a few things from this truck on the parts forum in the next few days. I have a LWB 1/2 ton 4x4 running gear, a couple of so so doors, AC evaporator box, power brake booster, auto trans brake pedal, foot emergency brake, pretty good dk grn full set of lap belts, non tach dash, auto non tilt steering column, AC controller, no motor or trans, no PS alt or AC brackets, but a few other odds and ends.

that is correct. Someone was playing "Army". We have a lot of wild hogs where this truck came from (Rockdale, Tx.) and since they are not considered a game animal, there is no season. P.O. mentioned he hog hunted. Everyone I have ever known who was a hog hunter had a truck like this that I would be scared to ride in over 40mph. After ripping out all the add on wiring, I am surprised the truck did not go up in flames when he hooked up the battery. It does explain why always had to unhook the battery over night. Has anyone ever seen a three way splice made with three ring terminals stacked together and a bolt about 3/4" long and a nut, UNINSULATED AND STUFFED UP UNDER THE DASH!?!?! (I wish I had taken a pic,but was too busy) When he ran out of tie wraps, he used bread ties. Makes me wonder about the motor in it he "rebuilt".

You know you can use a .22LR to replace a fuse don't ya?

After it gets hot, you might get ah... a vasectomy!

I know the boys at Myth Busters played with this one, I first read about it when I was working at ALCOA. I had a couple guys who worked for me who were the named individuals as I re-typed it for "distribution". The original story had been situated in eastern Arkansas and I just re-oriented it to our locale.

After I got through with it and it got circulated at my jobsite, one of the two guys, who had been on vacation at the time, came in to pick up his check. The guard asked him how he was feeling? Billy was a little curious and and asked why he wanted to know. So, he showed him the story. The other guy (Donell) later told me that it sounded just like something he and Billy would do, saying that they were cousins and grew up hunting. I had no idea they were cousins before I re-wrote the story.

But, Myth Busters did finally succeed in getting the cartridge to fire, but they had to create one heckuva short circuit to get the shell hot enough to fire.

I read about a guy who did that. He was the only person to ever win the Darwin Awards w/o killing himself. He lost both of his boys.

Have you checked the "teacups" yet?

I have found lots of wrenches in them.

The only thing I found was a very angry swarm of Mud Daubers! Took a long time to go back into the truck.

Re: You might be a redneck

I have never seen angry mud dobbers (daubers or however it is spelled. We have a lot of them in Texas. THey are black/ blue colored. I have never paidthemany attention. Our main problem is yellow jackets and Guinea wasps. Red wasps are not even that aggressive either. Maybe yours are Africanized HAHA. (Not funny, now that I think of it, as my 70 y.o. dad got into some Africanized bees down at his place outside Port Lavaca. Luckily he jumped into his pickup before they got him too bad. I think he still got stung 10 or 15 times around his faceand neck mostly. He is hard headed, took Benadryl and did not go to the emergency room. Mom wanted to choke him. )

Re: You might be a redneck

Shortly after picking up my K10 I found a birds nest in the engine compartment on the pass side under the battery bracket, that took me about 4 hours to access, clean/vacuum up, and put back together. No clue what happened to the PO of the nest but I am hoping that it was ingested into a fan or bounced off someone's grill. The other thing I came across was a bees nest under the bed , that made working on the exhaust interesting at least until I was able to pound it a couple times with a shovel, then the survivors moved out and I (Thankfully!) haven't seen any back since.
