Why dome light dont work?
hey guys, ive been fighting, and fighting with my 79s main dome light to work. the light under the dash works fine when the doors open, but the cargo light and dome light dont work at all, there is no power goin to it at all i gave up on the cargo light and am just gonna weld it shut, but i kinda need a dome light i was thinkin maybe a fuse went out, but what fuse is it? whats it labled as? any help?

probably a bad ground, the dome on my 77 used to wrok constantly, but now works occasionaly. Usually when it just doesnt work i slam the door a little harder and it does.

when you unscrew it you should see the ground wire.. just pull it apart and reground it to a known good ground

what do u mean when i unscrew it, like the caseing around it? or the light bulb? maybe im not comprehending the concept

lights have to make a coplete circuit to work.so it gos like this
12v+ through light bulb to a ground source. on your dome light it should have a wire that comes off one end of the metal clip that the bulb clips in and grounds to the cab when you screw the dome light in ,the other metal clip will have 12v + wire to it.

well loooong story short, i tryed to hot wire the dome light to the light under the dash, it blew a few fuses and sooo i just decided that i wasnt gonna drive it at night enough to worry about seeing inside it, so i just cut the dome and cargo light clean out and just gonna roll with it that way, just make it look like its functional, but its not.
