Factory 72 colors weren't bad enough...
this must be one of those "rare" factory colors no one has seen. I think the P.O must be color blind.

??? I didn't see any mention of color in the ad? But for the asking amount, he could take 1 second and wipe the dust off the camera lens!

Re: Factory 72 colors weren't bad enough...
It looks like the 519 code factory dark yellow/light orange to me. There was 3 oranges in 71-72. There was red orange (code 516) or hugger orange (code 524) and the 519 code. Uncle has a GMC that is that color.

I found a pic of uncle's truck. It has nice factory paint, so I know its an original color.

Re: Factory 72 colors weren't bad enough...
If I remember correctly, the 71-72 Hugger Orange is the same as the Red/Orange from eariler years. and the Code 516 Orange was a true Orange.

Re: Factory 72 colors weren't bad enough...
The truck on Clist did't look orange to me. Maybe it was. If it was dust on the lens,I think he better clean it REALLY good if he thinks he will ever get close to $16k for it...

Were the paint colors offered in 1972 the same as the colors you posted for 1971? Just curious |

Re: Factory 72 colors weren't bad enough...
I'm not sure if I understand the point of this thread? We're knocking a guy with a nice truck for his asking price based on color, which isn't even mentioned in the ad? So, if it was red or blue it would be worth the $$$ ?

Re: Factory 72 colors weren't bad enough...
It may be the camera or many other influnces but the interior color looks odd. not the factory ochre. speaking of factory colors I saw a c10 in the rare coral ice pink. and yes red trucks are worth more!

someone didnt recognise the color as a factory color. then the price was more of a picture quality issue.

Re: Factory 72 colors weren't bad enough...
My point was I did not think that this was a factory color. I have grown to love the greens of the era, but I have to draw the line. If this was a factory color on this truck, I think I would still paint it a different color, SPID be damned!. If it is not a factory color, somebody must have really liked the color and thought they would never want to sell the truck. There is/ was another truck with an odd color combo for sale in my area. Someone else posted it on here a while back. I believe it was a 70 SWB, two tone, sort of a light maroon/dark red color with gold in the middle. Stock or not, I didn't like it. Painting a truck an odd color combination because it was that color fom the factory is onething, but just making it up is another. It was not a "CUSTOMIZED" truck. It was all stock except for rally wheels. It also got a lot of flak here because they were asking $15-$20k and the grille was a repro that didn't even have the "CHEVROLET " script stamped into it. The tailgat may have been they same way.

Re: Factory 72 colors weren't bad enough...
Curiosity got the best of me and I I sent him an email. He said it is Ochre and sent pics of the SPID (which were not close up enough to make out the options) but in one photo it looks Ochre, in the other it looks like baby puke. I think his camera just sucks.

We used to have a fella on here who's signature said "Ochre, it grows on you".
I know it sure did on me. Ochre is like chubby women. You get to where you prefer them after you've had one.
