Tow hook option

Was this just an option on any truck or did specific trucks/blazers/burbs/4x4 have them...I have 72 k20 4x4 and have the holes but no hooks. It also looks as if there were never any mouted....

Re: Tow hook option

Just an option. I believe you could get them on anything... even 2 WD trucks. I "think" the 72 frames had the holes up front, but not positive.
Somewhere in the FAQ i have a thread showing the different styles for different years.

Re: Tow hook option

Right, if it's not on your SPID, then your truck didn't have them from the factory.

Re: Tow hook option

I`ve seen 2wd`72s that don`t have the holes in the frame. They were available on anything, but not all frames were drilled. It didn`t have to have the option to get the holes either.

Cool Re: Tow hook option

72 3/4 4x4 my favorite of the fleet.. I have 3 72 3/4 4x4s--all have factory holes drilled and tow hooks..none of my other trucks were factory drilled for tow hooks..!!..I have only seen one truck locally that had factory tow hooks,it is a very cool 71 3/4 4x4 and it is a retired fire truck..he will not sell it..as of now..

Re: Tow hook option

Not an option on my SPID, but after the bumper sliced my tow strap when my fuel pump went out they are a New Owner installed option.

By the way, the holes were already there.

Re: Tow hook option

My GMC rolled off the assembly line with them...but mysteriously in the 34 years prior to me owning it, they disappeared But you can tell where they had been mounted up...less rust.

I believe the RPO is V76 off the top of my head.

All of the 72 factory "K" frames that I have seen on my side of the country have had the four holes for the hooks from the factory whether it had hooks or not.
