Inside Of Glovebox?

Due to a previous post about painting a glovebox, I was wondering a few things about my glovebox:
1. Did every 67-72 come with a Cardboard glovebox?
2. Did any 67-72 even come with a Cardboard glovebox? lol
3. If 1 is correct, what has anyone used to change that?

I should clarify that it is not actually cardboard, it is Paperboard I guess..
Sorry for the nooby question, I was just curious.

Re: Inside Of Glovebox?

I put one in my '68, as there was none when I bought it. It was kinda hard to get in there but it worked out great. I bought it from LMC though.... I hate the way they pack stuff. Full of those foam peanuts that go everywhere when you rip open the box

that was common back in the day.
If you make a liner out of sheet metal, you'll want a rubber mat, or even carpet. The junk rattling will drive you NUTS

Re: Inside Of Glovebox?

Good point, didn't think of that, maybe a spray on be liner? also would possibly stop the rolling around? just a thought

I used some 1/16th inch or so rubber from work, and it does great... wouldn't know where to send you to get it though.

Mine is also plastic, it came with the "Vintage Air" AC kit. But its quite shallow compared to the original.

You can get the no-slip rubber mats for shelves and such from walmart and ikea. great stuff. Comes in food wide rolls, not sure how long they are though.

Re: Inside Of Glovebox?

good idea, i think im following what your suggesting, the stuff you lay down in drawers in cabinets and all that comes in rolls? if not, that would probably work too

Re: Inside Of Glovebox?

LMC or ChevyDuty used to sell plastic replacements. I haven't seen them in a few years, but I haven't been looking either.

Re: Inside Of Glovebox?

Mine came to me in Cardboard, with a steel floor....which bears a striking resemblance to a California black and yellow plate.

Re: Inside Of Glovebox?

So, why not use some old license plates to make it? It would be different, and automotive-related.

Re: Inside Of Glovebox?

Haha, that would be original
actually, jut think of having a '68 MO plate on the bottom, with regular sheet metal all around as the rest... that would be pretty cool
