Erratic Speed Signal
I am getting a code 6 according to the parking brake light. The speedometer hasn't worked since before i swapped the tranny. It would work for a bit but then go back to jumping around.
When I replaced the 700r4 i accidentally left the plastic gears in for the speedo instead of swapping my magnetic piece. When I pulled the magnetic sensor from the old tranny it was filled with metal shavings. Could this have been the reason it stopped in the first place? The speedometer has absolutely no response now. 1990 Chevy Suburban (square body)

Re: Erratic Speed Signal
Trench, there are 2 pieces in the trans that make the electronic speedo work. One is the pole piece that the wires hook to and the other slides onto the output shaft in the trans. You have to remove the tail piece to remove the reluctor. It "taps" off with a hammer. Push the retaining clip tight to the shaft before you hit the gear. BE GENTLE. Yes, a pound of metal shaveings will mess up the speedo, clean it up real good before you reinstall. Measure pole piece resistance 1500 ohms give or take.

Little stuff left to do is mount winch, wet sand & buff out and build belly pan\running boards. Body work takes lots and LOTS of beer!!!! God, Guts and Guns made America and God, Guts and Guns will preserve it! The worst thing you could do is get into my sights, but that don't matter, you'll never know it, cause you'll never hear the shotJim or Paladin whichever you choose. |
