Re: fender skirts?

In all my years I have not seen fender skirts on any of our trucks ,,but maybe some one has ..

What I did see once in a parade was a truck wiht tossles hanging from the tops of the fender wells edges and they almost reached the road.. the truck also had them hanging at different lengths from all windows too.. But no real fender skirts..

I have seen them on our trucks and I am not a fan - of course I really do not like them anyway so I am biased

Re: fender skirts?

There is a reason no one has really seen them on our trucks. I'm sure one guy tried it and tossed them out in fear of everyone making fun of him for doing it. JMHO

Re: fender skirts?

I don't know whose truck this is, but I took the liberty of "creating" a fender skirt for it, and modified the scallop around the rear wheel opening. If this is your truck, just know that it had the right profile for my usage. I like the look w/o the skirt, but thought that it would work to show someone how they might look.

Re: fender skirts?

Yes,I`ve seen them in the past. There actually still were cars with fender skirts offered in this era.Guys do all kinds of other "wrong era" things and no one cares. In fact, many are very popular right now.Like WWWs,scallops, rat rod,gasser...
I could see a longbed tail-dragger in Roman Red,fender skirts,dual quarter antanea on a slant,1/2 moon headlight shades,tear drop spot lamps,white roll`n`pleat interior & tonneau,retro-fit car mouldings down middle of sides,smooth tailgate,Lancer caps/2" whitewalls,lake pipes,continental kit,tube grill,front roll pan/nerf bumper,smooth tail lamp lenses,curb feelers,wolf whistle,peep mirrors,shaved door handles...

Yeah, Heaven forbid someone do something other than add a set of Torque Thrusts to an old truck and then ask for opinions.

His truck could actually pull off the look though...

Definitely wouldn't be something you'd see every day.

I don't think it will spread (to much work involved.)

but don't be suprised to see a 67-72 kustom "lead sled" in the future.
There are plenty of young up and coming lead slingers out there thinking outside the box.
Unfortunatly we will probably see a few trucks that wont get everyones approval.
I doubt everyone likes the work of Winfield, Hines, Barris, Starbird etc.....
and I know alot of the hot rodders look down on trucks.
but I think most of us here would agree that ..Trucks > cars

Here is an example of a mild kustom truck George Barris built. I know this truck doesn't wear a skirt
but I think it could definetly pull it off.
