Help!?!? ART Strong Arms
I have had the control arms on for quiet some time now but I haven't torqued the control arm shafts yet. I have looked on here several times trying to find the answer to my questions but I am out of luck.
So here's my questions..... Is there a specific torque spec? Is there a specific order I need to tighten them in? Do I need weight on them, or no weight at all? Does it need to be at ride height? Thanks in advance, Adam

Re: Help!?!? ART Strong Arms
I installed mine w/weight on the suspension & tightened them to the OE recommended specs in my Chiltons manual.

Re: Help!?!? ART Strong Arms
Shane,
I feel like a dipstick now. The simplest solution, call ART, and I didn't even think of that. Heck, I was on the phone with Tony two weeks ago and it never even crossed my mind to ask him about that... If you have a "Bonehead Of The Month" award can I nominate myself? I just got of the chat with a fellow from ART and he said to tighten them at ride heigt, both front and rear nuts equally until I get the oem troque specs for a 73-87 LCA... Thanks, Adam

Re: Help!?!? ART Strong Arms
if you are talking about the lower control arm u bolts, just make sure you know if you have the thinner or thicker(later model) ubolts. The torque specs are quite different between the two.

Re: Help!?!? ART Strong Arms
Can someone post these torque values when they find out? I'm interested in what they are.
Thanks.

Re: Help!?!? ART Strong Arms
I looked in a Haynes service manual today and it recommended 70 ftlbs of torque for the control arm shaft. I can't remember what it said for the u-bolt but 45 ftlbs sound right, but I am not certain.

Re: Help!?!? ART Strong Arms
Wow, jlaird thanks. Your build is the first one I looked at on this site. Thanks for the inspiration I needed to bag my truck, and the help with the torque specs.
