Red Flake Dash

I'm being lured by the red flake Moon steering wheel that my wife bought me for my birthday towards getting the whole dash painted to match with a black dash pad and dash top, maybe with a nice shiny black border where the fake chrome is around the instrument panel and glovebox lid. I've already got a red carpet set, upholstered the door panels in red vinyl although I may have to change that for red flake vinyl if I can find some. Anyone got a metal flaked dash on here? I know it may sound horrible to some of you but hell, its my truck! Any pics of flaked dashes out there or even just red ones?

Re: Red Flake Dash

You have any pictures of the red flake Moon steering wheel ? I would just like to see it to get an Idea of what you are talking about it sounds interesting maybe you should get a picture of the inside area of your truck you are thinking of painting and ask someone if they can kindly match the paint on the steering wheel and PhotoShop it. Their are many people on here that would be glad to help....

Re: Red Flake Dash

Here's the wheel, its kind of a candy red with red flake in it. I don't have a decent picture of my dash but its a standard 67 in all other respects.

Heres the door panels I did in plain red vinyl.

Dash with the old black grant wheel

Red seat

Re: Red Flake Dash

Hell yeah. Flake that dash, add a little pinstriping then clear it with just a touch of gold pearl.

I'm currently working on a '56 Chevy sedan and that's my plans for it. Except in baby blue. The dash will be gold flake, pinstriped, and the rest of the interior will be blue and white tuck n' roll. I already have the blue 'flake steering wheel.

Re: Red Flake Dash

Get the dash pad covered in red metalflake vinyl like a diner seat.If you paint the dash it will be screemin`for more chrome and gauges.

Re: Red Flake Dash

Lippy, I got the same wheel. Painted the rest red, black dash pad, armrests, visors. Seat is red and black door panels and carpet. I wanted some contrast to it.

I'd love to see some pictures. I have a brand new black dash pad, the PO covered the dash top in black vinyl which needs replacing but I was thinking of staying with black. I've found somewhere I can get red flake vinyl from and I was thinking of redoing the door panels in that. For contrast I was thinking of a black border around the glovebox door and instrument panel where the silver is now.

Re: Red Flake Dash

for the O.E.M. market with minimums of 1,500 yards per color.

Thats the stuff I believe he is talking about the 1500 yard minumum would kill him on price.exspecially the shipping to the UK

Re: Red Flake Dash

There's a picture on here somewhere of a candy red dash that someone had done. It didn't have flake but it was sprayed over sanding swirls and looked really good...

I'll try to find it.
