slim floor jack for lowered trucks??
i'm looking for a small (2ton-ish) floor jack that is slim enough to slide under a lowered truck with a flat. i know i saw them some where but can't find them again. anybody that knows where i can find them i would appreciate it.

i just use stock jacks from newer vehicles.
the jack on all my 94+ s10s/blazers has been perfect, its small and goes down to like 2.5" which has been good enough to slide under on all my lowered vehicles. dont know if its capacity is 2 tons though... |

i just saw one at Harbor frieght, not sure of it's height but it was an aluminum race jack for 200 bux. i think it was 2 ton too. check it out online..

Oh, crap! I have been enjoying mine since I lowered it and never gave any thought to having a flat or having to jack it up. Oh well, I can drive it onto the lifts at the service station, so if it clears those pads, surely I can get my floor jack under it. If not, I guess I can get out my trusty, rusty, dusty old screw-type bumper jack and get enough clearance to get the floor jack under it.
Dangit! Just as I was starting to feel carefree at 55 (my age, not the speed I drive at!).

some Caddys and late 80s GMs have a real slim jack,i have one in my truck,they even slide under seat upright.I threw the extras away but look in later model GM products.

Well, if you need to raise the truck a little to get a big jack under, just drive it over some 4x6 blocks and it should give enough clearance. As for flats, I still keep my stock screw jack under my sub box.

I have one of those $20 cheap floor models, and I took off the front wheels, now it fits fine, but it does not roll foreward as you jack, so you have to be sure you have it 'in' extra far'

Check out Northerntools.com they have some nice Lincoln or OTC floor jackes. Just don't be expecting cheap. The lower the minimum height, the higher the price! I have to drive my Camaro up on blocks in order to get floor jack underneth the front crossmember. WITHOUT a flat. I like the OTC jack with a minimum lift height of 3 1/2" vs. the harbor Freight $60 jack with its 5 1/4" minimum height. The OTC jack is $300, however. But I have already worn out two Harbor Freight jacks so maybe I should hgave ponied up the $ in the first place?

How low are you?
My dad's ooooold nameless standard floor jack hasn't had a height problem with a vehicle yet...and we've used it on a '94 Z28, my 2.5" / 4" 1970 GMC, a couple random import trucks, a late-model Accord, and as far as I know, it also got under my dad's old '73 911 no problem.

You could get some rhino ramps. They're like $30 and work on low clearance vehicles. Then once you get it up on it, raise it up with a regular jack.

Yeah,i saw that aluminum race jack at Harbor Freight. Sure is sweet and light too!! Think i'll have to get one myself !

I'm using a jack for a Honda. I got it at the junkyard for about $5-10 bucks. But, make sure you have it on flat, stable ground. I didn't and it tipped over and bent-now I gotta go find another one.

When I had my ElCamino I carried 2x6 aprox 12" long with a beveled edge. Drive up on it, from there you can use a stock jack or small hydraulic jack. This thing was 1 3/4" off the ground so I used 2 peices screwed together to make a ramp. Worked like a charm the one time I ever used it.

Let's see....the issue isn't necessarily finding a jack as much as HAVING that jack when a tire goes flat, right? My floor jack (a 1/5-ton heavy...made outta iron....hydraulic one from Sears, does fine. I gotta figure out how close everything gets to the street IF I HAVE A FLAT. I'm not gonna worry about that, right now.
