Ok guys I have this electrical conection on my TH400 I dont remember if anything was hooked up to it or not when I pulled the transmission & motor out. If it was I have no idea where the wire that unpluged from here went or goes, Can any one help me What goes plugged in here Is it a plug for a Transmission Oil Temperature Gauge? If so I'd like to put a Temperature Gauge in my Gauge Cluster. Anyone know the size of a gauge that would fit next to the Stock Oil Pressure Gauge the small hole Thanks Pablo.

I think it's for the kick-down switch.
I'd have to look at one of mine to be sure!

Almost positive it's for an electronic kick down.

it's a neutral safety switch. the kickdown is on the otherside of the trans.it's either a vacume hose to the intake or a detent cable hooked to the carb and it's on the right side of the trans.

the safety switch is on the column.
If that plug has a single spade on it, then it is the electric kickdown. If it is a double, then it is the kickdown, and the transmission controlled spark (TCS) which was an early smog control device that kept the timing from being advanced untill the engine was up to temp, and in final drive ratio.

Yes it is a singel Spade, So Do I not need it if I have no electric kickdown? Heres a picture of the passenger Side with Vacum line in it and a Close up of the Single spade I am asking about! Thanks guys...

Coming froma guy with no kickdown... it's a nice feature to have.
However, you can leave it unhooked with no major side effects. If you floor it and it should kick down, and is unable, the line pressure can get a little high, and it can shorten the life of the tranny, but we aren't talking like an overdrive that'll self destruct.
if you can run it, you should. If you don't, it isn't detrimental, but it will cause a slightly shorter tranny life.

Thanks Longhorn Man It looks like I have to invest in a Automatic Transmission Kickdown Kit in the near future once I get it driveable... And here I thought it was a temp sensor
