TOPLESS in Winter.. brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

We we finally got the motor and transmission all back together about a month ago and I've been trying to iron out the bugs and break in the new drivetrain.
Heres where I posted the breakdown:
http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=302102

Everything is running good now and I'm dying to drive the new lady ; )

Took her out and about the industrial park today...beautiful, sunny and 23 degrees

Heres some pics so you guys dont complain : )

Awesome looking rig! One question...is your fan shroud original, or aftermarket?

Re: TOPLESS in Winter.. brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Looks factory to me, 4x4 shrouds are longer than 2wd.

Not sure, I was asking because if it was aftermarket then I like the way the aftermarket is made. The one I have on my K-20 is short and I was looking to get a correct 4 x 4 shroud and didnt know if the aftermarket one was like the original or not.

Thanks!

Hi Jtrux.. I wanted to keep it mostly stock. I have matching numbers and protecto-plate so i didn't want to go too nuts.

I had the original carb rebuilt, the motor was totally rebuilt-.030 over with a 350hp 327 cam to give it some lower end. I also had the trans. completely redone with B&M kit as well as torque converter.

She runs good but is tight (insert your own innuendo here) : )

I have only put about 40 miles on her around here so as to not get stuck too far away if anything should happen. Plus the weather has deteriorated : (

In the spring I'm going to upgrade the distributor (add suggestions please)
and I am hounding can-back to produce the soft-top : ) I talked to Bryon at
Truck Candy and he says he gets 2 or so calls a week. They are doing the 66-77 Bronco now and possibly by next June/July (crossed fingers and toes)

I'll keep you posted.....

Re: TOPLESS in Winter.. brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

If you haven't done the HEI yet I highly recommend it. I bought a reman unit from Orielly's but there's a gazillion options for you. It really depends on how much you want to spend. DUI, MSD, Mallory, Accell, as well as many others make quality distributors. I've heard good things about them all. Personally I like MSD but it's merely a personal preference.

Re: TOPLESS in Winter.. brrrrrrrrrrrrrr

I had to drive mine to work today. In my shorts and a t shirt. I think it was about 60 degrees this morning. Had the windows rolled down!
I have HEI in both of my old Chevys, and would not do anything else. Yes it is expensive, yes you can buy parts at any parts store, yes GM did a great job with this in my opinion

Your Blazer looks great! When you see one that looks as good as that, it makes you understand our obsession that much better! Nice work.
