What's the difference between two wheeled four-wheel cab pickup truck?
I have purchased a 1972 GMC pickup four-wheel-drive, minus the engine with a six-inch lift kit. But the vin number on a cab is TCS 232. I think this is a 2 Wheel Drive cab? Since I am new to this classic truck .I'm 56 years old I need to lower the truck to a reasonable height so I can get in.maybe stock-or 2 inches more . When I lower the truck will there be a problem with the transfer case.hitting the tunnel. It has a 203 transfer case with a 350 turbo transmission.one more question, please is the 203 transfer case standard on the 1972 GMC or is it the 205 case. Thanks guys.

Re: What's the difference between two wheeled four-wheel cab pickup truck?
Welcome to The 67-72 Chevy Truck Board from West Michigan!
The 4wd truck cabs have a removable transmission cover that is higher then the 2wd cabs. It is fairly easy to modify a 2 wd cab so that the high hump can be installed. Having a removable high hump can be a real benefit for accessing the top of the transfer case. The 205 transfer case was standard in the 72 trucks. Jim

Re: What's the difference between two wheeled four-wheel cab pickup truck?
Welcome to the site!
The VIN is a 6cyl 2wd 3/4t.If it originally had a 4spd or a 402 it would have the high hump(removable). The transfer case will stay the same if you lower the truck. Are you talking about a body lift as well as suspension?I may be interested in swapping front springs if you want low stock front springs.I need to raise a `72 I have.Do you know if your frame is a`72 or earlier if it`s had a body swap?I ask because of the later t-case.Is you rear axle a 14-bolt used since`73 or a Corporate axle like used since the`40s?Those had a round cover and removable 3rd member. The shocks should both be facing forward on a`72-earlier.Are the core suport mounts on the frame being used or are they ahead of the core support?

Welcome to the board - if you can, post up some pics of your truck and the drivetrain.
