Inner Fenders-NOS or Repops-Where to go?

Ok...I did a search w/o any sufficient answers. My truck (The Circuit Rider) will need two new inner fenders so the question that I have is:
1) NOS (if avaliable) or Repop? Which way would you go?
2) If Repop...are they all the same quality? Are there different manufactures?
3) I live near Columbus Ohio and I travel Oh., Ind., and Ky. so I hope to pick these up and to save shipping cost. Shipping cost looks to be more than the cost of the inner fenders.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Inner Fenders-NOS or Repops-Where to go?

Well, let me tell you a tale.................

Just 2 weeks ago, with the help of some good friends, I replaced most of the front clip on my Chevy; because I'd wrecked it.

We replaced both outer fenders, inner fenders, core support, & hood hinges. (I was able to salvage the hood)

I'll be honest, I was in a panic about using repop parts because of the horror stories I'd heard about them not coming anywhere close to fitting.
We had everything swapped out in a bit over 1/2 a day & roughly aligned.
We did have to use tapered alignment tools & phillips screwdrivers, etc. to get the holes lined up, but it wasn't that bad @ all.

I still have to put the cowl on & other stuff like that on so I can "fine tune" the body alignment stuff, but it's not looking too bad.

I used all Tri-Plus parts (formerly GoodMark, I believe) & they all came from Taiwan.

The biggest problem I had was getting the inner fenders.
Because everything has slowed down worldwide, they weren't stamping out inner fenders as fast as they used to; so it took an extra 2 weeks, or so, to get the inners.

Sorry about the long post/reply, but I wanted to give you a "real world" perspective.

Re: Inner Fenders-NOS or Repops-Where to go?

70, I unerstand your worries about fit with repop stuff, but if it is out it's not going to be by an awfull lot, it will just mean a little jiggling about and widening the odd hole. I always see it like this....I can go repop on the sort of hidden stuff, and save my money for NOS on the shiney stuff. The vendors I use are ClassicParts/Classic Heartbeart.

Re: Inner Fenders-NOS or Repops-Where to go?

The last time I bought any inner fenders I got them from the Chevy dealer. I couldn't say if they're still available or not. They weren't much more than the repro parts out there.

Re: Inner Fenders-NOS or Repops-Where to go?

I put inner and outer fenders on mine from Certi-fit . The price was reasonable and the fit was good . Like El jay said a few tapered alignment tools and phillips head screw drivers and loosly start all the bolts first before tightening them and it dropped together . Inners were like $32 each . Outers around $67 each . Google Certi-fit .

Re: Inner Fenders-NOS or Repops-Where to go?

Speaking of inner fenders, this seams like a good place to ask.
Does anyone make plastic or fiberglass inner fenders? it would seam to me that plastic iners would be great for weight savings.

Re: Inner Fenders-NOS or Repops-Where to go?

This whole front end Fenders, Inner fenders, hood, rad support, grille, bumper, bumper brackets, battery tray is aftermarket Tri-Plus. I have people who brings stuff back saying it won't fit we try it on another truck no problem. I wonder sometime if they don't need a diffrent body man not a diffrent part. LOL!

Tim...So Tri-Plus makes most the inner fenders? I guess I want to stay away from cheap repops. Besides the rockers...these will be the only sheet metal parts that I will be needing for the Circuit Rider.

Certi-Fit does not carry Tri-Plus product

Tri-Plus inner fenders are thicker than the two other manufacturers that I am aware of; and actually 3lbs. heavier than original.

Ok...thanks. I'll be calling to check shipping charges. Prices seems to be comparable but the shipping costs from various vendors are all over the place. As the Circiut Rider gets closer to being finished...my Circuit Rider funds are about depleted. I realize there may be "cheaper" pricess but I have to much $$$ and time in the Circiut Rider to think "cheap". Thanks all for your input.
PS: I also try and only support the Vendors who support this site.

Shipping on inner fenders is ridiculous...I'd rather see you buy them from a vendor where you can pick them up than sell you a set.

I called a place in Dayton Oh., and I asked where their Inner Fenders were made and he said; "all these parts are made out of this county." So looks like if I want the better quality/heavier parts then it looks like shipping is the way to go.

I bought my stuff locally @ "Matt's Classic Bowties" in Concord, CA.
Because I wasn't in a big, giant hurry to get the parts, I waited until they placed a "stocking order", which they do about every 4 weeks, or so.
My parts came in with their other regularly ordered stuff & I didn't have to pay any shipping. As I said before, the inner fenders did take an additional 2 week. But it wasn't Matt's fault.
I saved probably $150, or more, by just being patient.

You may want to check around locally.

I think Tim Christian put those flames on there to cover up all the flaws!

We hear this and that about reproduction body parts, mostly from guys who aren`t professionals, haven`t worked with anything else, and often is their first attempt. Also, most don`t know who made what and claim one brand is better when it`s made by the same company on the same machinery from the same metal.I think the boxes are the same except for the print.I`ll have to look into that and get back later.

FWIW I bought mine from the Truck and Car Shop in California, they were cheap, and fit perfect.
