SPID question

Does the SPID contain dealer installed options or only Factory installed options? Looking at a SPID with option number INL210 Auxillary Fuel Tank.
Owner says the truck does not and never did have saddle tanks.

Re: SPID question

I might be wrong but I am under the impression these are only factory installed options. If I am wrong other can chime in.

Re: SPID question

What year is the truck? I think that if it was a 72, GM had started putting aux tanks in, but years prior were farmed out to dealers or the aftermarket. SPID only lists options the vehicle left the factory with.

The trucks could be had with either factory or dealer installed options. Factory installed had the switch on the dash to the left of the guage panel.
Dealer installed were put there by Colorado Customs out of Brookfield Colorado
and there were fuel access doors or filler ports behind the wheel well

Re: SPID question

72 not original owner. VIN on SPID matches truck. When I get to see the truck I'll see if I can tell if the bed was swapped or tank removed and bed repaired as well as dash repaired where the switch was. I think a bed swap is most likely.

Anybody have a picture of the following: switch location, aux tank location underneath the truck, or any 70-72 medium gold poly truck, paint code 526?

The switch on my dash only switches the fuel gauge from the main tank to the auxiliary tank.

There is a "double valve" on the floor, between the seat & the driver's door that switches the fuel flow from 1 tank to the other.
The reason I say "double valve" is, 1 part of the valve switches the gas from the tank to the fuel pump & the other part switches the fuel pump return line.

Re: SPID question

Saddle tanks were a dealer installed item. The 72 factory aux tank has a filler just like the one in the cab and it sits a little further back from it.

Re: SPID question

My '72 GMC has option "NL2--Auxiliary fuel tank" listed on the SPID.

And the filler is a tad over 1' aft of the front of the bed.

Re: SPID question

Could be a glove box off another truck also. Just a guess. If he say's it never did have them, then I would say it's been swaped.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: SPID question

more likely the bed was sapped.
The SPID is only what was installed on the assembly line.
Sometimes there were mistakes made, but they were generally pretty acurate
