Thumbs up 73-87 Lift spindle swap and other 2wd lift questions

Ok, I've done some reading Most this afternoon regarding lifting a 73-87 1/2 ton LWB truck, however most seems repetitive. The reason for my madness is due to an awesome deal I can get on a truck from my neighbor. I want to lift it and give it the "pavement prerunner" look. It will primarily be used to haul the bikes and possible a trailer to the dunes.
I believe I have come to the realization that you probably can't get any of the Fabtech stuff anymore? If I understand correctly I am about 2-4 years late on buying the parts. I want to go with a 33"-35" tire with good fender clearance in the front (Fiberglass fenders will help here). I was reading this post http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...=304940&page=2 which seems to make it look like a 88-98 spindle swap is possible in the stock form. I know there is a few company's that make a 2wd 4" lift spindle for the 88-98 trucks. with that and say 2" coils up front, extended brake-lines, ball joints, Lower control arms I think its not impossible?
Any other ideas and info here would be awesome and appreciated.

Kenny

This will give you some lift, maybe not enough though.

These are set up for 73-87, so they should fit ours. Member Dino put a long arm setup on his 60 something truck.

Sounds to me like your idea will work. 3/4 ton lower arms should allow you to use the 88-98 ball joints...

I was looking at the fabtech stuff, but i'd say good luck locating someone who has it in stock, let alone inventory. I think I'll be best off trying to do an updated spindle. How bout' extended brake lines? Oh the joys of Google...

'Glass fenders alone would allow you to run 35"s... add in 6" of lift and you are looking at 37-40" tires..
I wanted to try the 88-98 spindle lift some years ago when I first came across a thread about it for 67-72s... but I have since retired the truck I was going to do it on.. If you do it, please do a write up and take alot of pics.. that way it will be here for all to see. This question (lifting 2wd) doesnt get posted here all that often, but it has come up multiple times.

Re: 73-87 Lift spindle swap and other 2wd lift questions

I recently got an email from someone that did this. I was going to do it on my '75. I will see if I can dig it up. Besides, people are using the stock spindles from that era on the 67-70's for 6lug disc brakes. Should be just the same.

I just did this conversion.

I might get it written up with pictures this weekend, maybe good enough for the fact section.

I am interested to see if the 2500 8 bolt lift spindle can be adapted to fit my 67 C20
