DropmemberV3
Well guys, here’s the latest version of the Dropmember… we’re calling it the Dropmember V3. Since a similar product was introduced a few months back, that incorporated many design similarities, I decided it was time to go through the original design and take it to the next level. The changes include streamlining the main crossmember section ( by press-braking some of the pieces, re-vamping the rack mount and motor mounting tabs, and redesigning the lower control arm mount). The changes have made significant differences in sleekness and overall appearance, while allowing it to maintain its custom fabricated presentation.
The lower control arm mount is essentially a 3-piece version of a 73-87 lower control arm shaft. This new design makes it necessary to use a factory lower control arm from 73-87, a lower control arm from ART, or coming soon… a lower control arm from Porterbuilt. We are currently looking into some of the other aftermarket tubular control arms to assess their compatibility. Here are a few pics of the new design. Let me know what you think, and of course, let me answer any questions you might have!

Re: DropmemberV3
Hopefully these pics will explain everything clear enough! You have to remove the lower control arm shaft , then the arms slides over this DM’s lower mounts, the DOM insert slides through, and then the bolt and washer follow. In a few days I should have the new mounting end back from the machine shop… they are a one piece version of the DOM sleeve and bolt.

As you know, the torsion bar chassis are different, but I have a version specifically for it (same price)! It looks nearly identical, and yes, it is a V3 too.

Re: DropmemberV3
Does it sitll narrow the track width?
Will it work with a static suspension? Can I pay you to custom build one to work with a static suspension?

Re: DropmemberV3
I think it looks great! Did you raise the rack and pinion mount height? Now that my original Dropmember is a collector item, it's worth more money right?!

Re: DropmemberV3
Thanks for the kind words Andrew. Some people might not know, or believe it, but I am the one that does ALL the wedling. I know I will need to get someone to help out on the welding eventually... but I guarantee when I finally relieve myself of the welding duties it will be to somebody who is equal or better than I am. I'm getting close to 300 units, that's A LOT of wedling! I get better with each one! This new version eliminates 60 inches of weld bead per unit... that should save me a little time!

Re: DropmemberV3
not to get off topic here, nathan will the bell tech spindle 3120 work on a 72 chevrolet without changing any of the front end components. i sat on belltechs tech line for about an hour with no answer. it is all stock suspension.

Re: DropmemberV3
Sorry I missed this earlier... I am not too familiar with the BellTech part numbers and such. If it's designated a 71-72 spindle, then it SHOULD cross over without any part changes. If the spindle is designated a 73-87 then you will have to change some parts.

Re: DropmemberV3
Nate,... how many 67-72 rear Dropmembers do you have out there? Are you satisfied with the latest version of these?
I may be ordering one soon.

There's a couple dozen rear kits out there, and a handful currently on order. As for changes... all the major design is set, but it seems each time I put one together I find some small detail that can be improved (when I say small detail, I mean very minute).
