What do you guys think of this...

Just found this and was wondering if anyone has any experience with the kit (specifically the valve box).

really expensive for a tank, two compressors, valve block and a control "pendant" ... you can piece a system together for much less

Can you point me to a valve manifold and a digital controller that I could get for less than this? (Not trying to be a smart alec....like that sounds... I'd just really like digital control unit and valve manifoldfor cheaper and can't find it) If you take out the cost of the dual 480C kit (400) and the 5 gal tank (75) , and 40' air line (25) you're getting a manifold and the digital controller (which also takes the place of gauges) for 475 shipped. The only only manifolds I've been told are decent have run 400 themselves and digital controllers have been 4-500. Plus this has a built in dryer which seems like a good idea to me.

THey do have a manual control one ( http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Arnot...1%7C240%3A1307 ) that is a little less but the digital one seems like a good deal to me as long as it works well and requires minimal maintenance

If cost is the driving consideration, you may want to consider rethinking your plan. While the price of an item isn't the sole method of identifying a quality product, lack of price often translates into lack of quality-- quality materials, quality workmanship, etc. The fact is, a precision metering and signaling product cannot be made, where a company is expecting to make a reasonable profit, without having some appropriate material and labor cost in it.

I know NOTHING about the valves you linked in your OP. I do know that, as Shane has indicated, if this product is the greatest thing since sliced bread, it's strange that nobody knows anything about them. Maybe the product is at the bleeding edge and you'll be the first... and we'll all be jumping in right behind you. Maybe not.

I'd rather have a reliable more basic setup (already have the switchbox and about to buy SMC valves, but would prefer to have no gauges showing, less wiring, and digital control) Trying to get more info on these...I've emailed and will call when I have some time.

One thing I wouldn't do is compromise safety and/or reliability to save a few bucks. I'll go with a reliable non-digital system if I can't find out enough info on this or can't find a good deal on a reliable product.

Re: What do you guys think of this...

Here's a response I got from them about the setup and required maintenance

If there was ever an issue with a non-functioning valve we would supply whatever parts necessary. The most servicing any of these valves would need would just be cleaning debris from the plunger which is simple enough. The valveblock can be mounted on the underside of the vehicle as the coils are sealed.
Thanks,
Dan

Re: What do you guys think of this...

Dont take this the wrong way either, cause I mean no ill will but I can't direct you to anything similar because I'm not familiar with digital controllers. I have never seen the need for one. I didn't read the eBay add close enough the first time to catch that portion of it. I thought it was your normal run-of-the-mill multi-switch type controller.

My opinion was based on the fact that the ONLY place I have ever seen this companies products is on eBay. I would think if these components as they claim, then we would have heard about them by now somewhere else (magazine review, booth at trade show, car show, etc).

I have heard the name for motorcycle parts I guess on TV. Here's their main website http://arnottairride.com/ Seems like a decent company and a 1 yr warranty. I've been watching these for almost a yr and they're still around w/ high feedback on ebay...for what that's worth. I might be the one here to take a chance on them and see how it works. If I do I'll do a writeup on them....but honestly won't have a lot to compare them to...
I realize this isn't something like a ride right or level pro system or something like that, but it's also not $3K. Seems like a decent deal if you do this and the SD sale for bags you're pretty much set up to ride on air w/ the addition of spindles, shocks, Trac bar, and c-notch (or dropmembers if that's you're direction).

Re: What do you guys think of this...

I like the switch controller and being digital is a plus for me because it seems like you could get more precise more easily than looking at gauges. Plus, you don't have to find a spot for the gauges and can simply hide the controller under the seat for a hidden airride control setup.

Re: What do you guys think of this...

I have contacted Arnott to see if they would like to come on here and give more info about the valve/controller.

I didn't read where that came with valves....Seems like it's an add on digital control system to an existing air ride setup. Nice features but you still have to buy valves/valve block, compressor(s), and a tank, lines, and fittings.

Re: What do you guys think of this...

I asked the seller on ebay about the type of valves that are used in this kit. All in all, if the valves are decent, I might consider purchasing this...

Well the ebay seller said the valves were Peter Paul brand. Anyone have any information on these?

i think i would need to hear real feedback on this before i would get it, but it is worth the money if it is reliable.

Re: What do you guys think of this...

In a month or so when I buy the rest of my airride stuff I will most likely go with this. I guess I'll be the guinea pig unless someone else beats me to it... I figure I'm buying the valves with a dryer and digital controller for $475 shipped so even if I have some issues w/ the valves in the future, I would hopefully be able to sell that part of the setup and buy some SMC's without too much out of pocket. And, if it does work well, I'll be WAY ahead of the game and be able to provide some feedback on here!

Re: What do you guys think of this...

i just ordered ARNOTT'S Ride Controll III kit directly from their site instead of off of ebay. i did a search and found a discount code for 10% off and it comes out cheaper ordering it like that. it doesn't have presets, but that was fine with me. Shipped to my door for $815. I know someone else that used their valve blocks with no problems. I will post pics when i get it in.

from their site
"ARNOTT is your source for air suspension components for Lincoln, Ford, Cadillac, Lexus and Range Rover. Since 1989, we have been designing and manufacturing quality air struts, compressors (pumps) and air bags (springs). Arnott continues to lead in research and development of new products while maintaining affordable prices."

Thanks for being the guinea pig. I really have been getting ready to pull the trigger on this...just waiting on tax money. Would love to hear your feedback once you get this in your hands and even better once you have some real life experience with it. Thanks!

Re: What do you guys think of this...

Arnott has indeed been around for along time. We used there parts at a shop I worked at several times. Mostly replacement air struts and bags for lincolns and a couple other cars. I would be interested to hear as well how the install goes.

Re: What do you guys think of this...

$815 sounds like a whole lot of money for no more than you get (one small compressor - one small tank - off-brand valves) ... just my take on it.
