Re: found a 72 burb how much is it worth

As an owner of a 72 suburban I definately think that you should build the burb if that is what you want. I don't know about where you are in Maryland, but here in Texas you see 67-72 trucks fairly commonly, but very rarely do I see a 67-72 burb. Actually the only ones I have seen besides mine are always at shows or swap meets. I dont know exact numbers on the suburbans and I am sure someone can correct me on this but I believe they made around 10-20 thousand a year. This includes 2wd, 4wd, 1/2 ton, and 3/4 ton.

Well,
What do you mean by 'cutting it all up'? If you mean bodywise, I would say find one that needs more work if the one you have is that cherry, sell the one you got, and use the money towards another one. If you just mean frame wise, I say hack away. There is nothing that special about the frames. Build what you want and plan to enjoy. I would just caution you against doing any major bodywork to a really good burb body, as they are harder to come by. Imagine taking a very nice original '69 camaro, that has a great body, then radiusing the wheel wells, cutting up the hood, and redoing the door skins. It would have been better left alone and finding a camaro that needs the wheel arches replaced anyway, etc, etc. I know the 'burb isn't on the same level as a camaro collectibility wise, but the concept is the same.

Gotta agree, I am a little hazy as to what you are wanting to do with the body. I wouldnt cut up a solid body though. In MD I am sure a solid body goes for a premium. So if you are going to cut the arches and other things that are rust prone anyway I would sell the cherry body, buy a rustier body to cut up and pocket the difference.

Re: found a 72 burb how much is it worth

what i am doing is gutting the hole inside fire wall floor braces
so u would just have the skins to make the truck light as possible it is a 4000lb
pulling truck i love the body style and i am making it identical to my 72 that is in the pic at the bottom of this page

i just don't want to cut and have a guy say i would have paid big bucks for that truck knowing how much my 72 4x4 is appraised at and that is 31000.00 and if someone could make this truck the same!

so i just need some talking too to just make it clear what i do is some what thalt out

thanks to for the help guys

Re: found a 72 burb how much is it worth

I agree with the majority to not cut up a cherry burb body but I'm afraid you may not even find an average burb in your area. I guess you could put what you have up for sale and look around for another. If you don't get any response on one or the other cut away. $300 is not a large investment so you would only have to live with your guilt

Post some pics of the burb in question please.
