Re: Dash Pads

Yes, if it really is an NOS GM pad it is the best you can by. Just make sure it's the correct style for your year of truck.

Re: Dash Pads

The problem with anything NOS the is rubber plastic vinyl etc is that it is old and subject to drying out just from age and you should see the item before you buy.

Re: Dash Pads

joe14- Capt Kaos is one of us. He won't sell anything if he isn't happy with the quality. If it isn't nice enough to put on his own truck, he doesn't offer it.

oldgmc- You are assuming that the dash pad is as old as the truck it was intended for. Keep in mind that GM manufactured the parts for at least 10 years after they quit making the truck. Since the biggest enemy of dash pads is the sun, one that has been sitting in the box for several years is prone to be in good condition.

That is why I suggested he see it which may be difficult as it is on ebay and I have seen a lot of junk sold there. However I mostly deal with old vehicles 40's-50's so I am a little cautious of the word NOS. Too many times it is more like Nasty Old ShXX and too many unknowing people get burned. But I am from the pre ebay era when we bought parts face to face.

Re: Dash Pads

The plastic pads LMC sells are crap if they are the urethane versions. I can drop one on you for $225 +$20 shipping if you really want it. Depending on if I have the color. Note it is NOT in my catalog for a reason.

The vinyl skinned ones are better but only come in 81-87 and have to be dyed also. They are $275 + shipping.

To dye one, (it is really just painting it) grab a can of vinyl paint and spray it on. (after correctly cleaning it) check N2TRUX article on doing it:
