Back-up lamp switch, will it work when 3-speed column is rigged for automatic???????
I am having a hard time finding an Automatic column for my 68.
So......we are just rigging up the already there 3-speed column, will the back-up lamps work if switched to the right place with the shifter?? If not, what can I do to make them work with the shifter. OR....how do I add a switch for the back up lamps that will be neatly placed where the Choke knob was. ------------------ IN A TUX WITH A 68 BOWTIE.

Well...the automatic columns have a hole where the neutral/safety switch (which controls backup lights) can use to connect it's actuating part to a metal tab on the part of the column that swivels inside when you shift. I'm surprised that the 3spd switch can't be adapted to what you need...

I don't think it'll work because the 3 speed column used an "H" pattern to shift with reverse at top left. The auto is sequential PRNDL2L1.
If your previous tranny was a 3 speed auto it should be easy to hook up a toggle switch to the wiring. If you want to do it right, I have an auto column that is correct for a 68 with a th350 or th400 tranny. What was your previous tranny? You may want to get an auto dash harness for the neatral safty switch wiring too. I may have that as well. ------------------ Jeff Jesseman Cheyenne Parts Northeast Franconia, NH 67 Chevy SWB Fleetside 70 GMC Burb 1/2 ton 2wd 72 Chevy Burb 3/4 ton 4x4 Parts bought and sold
