How often does someone offer to buy your truck?

I was looking for some sod this weekend and I stopped at this tree nursery and the own came marching out to me eager to help me and eager to buy my truck. He tried to barter with trees and sod.

It would take alot of dirt to pry my truck out of my hands. I've had a few offers over the years. Most of them half-hearted.

I have learned one thing about these trucks.

People will ask to buy them no matter what the shape or the price

From perfect to a bondo bucket people just like them.

I have had a couple of offers...

THe first one was when i was lookin at a nice 10 second Grand National. Perfect with a 6"Cowl hood and all the ponies...He said he would trade me for my truck and throw in $5500..I said no...

Then the same guy had an award-winning 98 Ext. Cab Lowered and all said he would trade that to me and throw in $7000..
I said no

Then another guy said he would take it off of my hands and give it to his grandson (who is also 16) for $12000 i said no...

It would take alot for me to sell my truck....
But it always flatters me when someone asks...

When mine was on the road I used to get 3-4 offers or somebody sayin' "You want to sell it". Even as long its been in the garage I've had calls or people to stop. One UPS guy stopped once a month for a long time. Now a question did you ever price it when asked? I never did cos I was always afraid someone would buy it.

My standard answer with all my vehicles has always been. EVERYTHING IS FOR SALE. Usually followed by them asking how much? I say you set the price, your the one who wants it. If it is enough $$$$$ to peak my interest. Then she's gone!!!! I can always build another.

I sold one of my prize 72 by opening my mouth. I was in the middle of a ground up on a 72 swb cheyenne with a big block. A teenager stopped by and inquired about it, I priced it high enough that I was going to make a good profit, but I really thought it would scare them away because I didn't want to sell it. Next thing you know I have dad's and kids coming to look at the truck until one of them bought it. I really wanted this one for myself.

When I lived in TX, pretty regularly I'd have some yahoo hanging out his window while running down the highway trying to get my attention, mouthing "how much for the truck" while weaving back and forth trying to stay in his lane. There were times when I wanted to stop and sell the thing just so I wouldn't become victim of mister-overzealous.

(BTW, being a native Texan, I am fully qualified to use the term "yahoo" in reference to some yahoo driving down the road, acting like an idiot ).

Here in MA I get the occasional interest but most people who are peeked by the truck ask me "what is it?" I tell them it's a truck

I have guys asking all the time, But most of it is because it's not being driven everyday, So they think i've lost interest. I had one guy offer me some stupid high dollar amount. I really figured he was full of it so I said NO.. I later found out from a good friend of his that he really wanted it and was serious with his offer. (that's what I get for being a smart a**) The only other serious one was a guy from California offered me a very nice 67 Nova with a warmed up Small block, it was a clean car. I wished i would have taken that one. He traded it to a friend of mine who had a 71 C-10, Damned that was a nice NOVA.

But i'm like most of us on here, I'm embarrased on How much I've sunk into it, And I have too much in it to ever break even. So I guess I either wait for that one certain person, Or I wait for 7 more years and give it to my boy. either way is fine with me.
And if I did sell it, I would just have to go buy a Ford, LIGHTNING.... Sorry, i didn't mean to use four letter words here.

I had one person come to our door and ask if the truck was for sale. I said straightaway that it wasn't, but in hindsight I should've seen how much he would've been willing to pay for it!

Every time i get gas i have the old," I had one of these when i was younger" or " my dad had one" followed by how much?
As always i say no and move on. but i think the next time i will ask them how much and just build another as i really miss my 70 lwb c/10 that was fully optioned with a 402 bb from the factory. i think the only reason i miss that one so much is that it was factory sunflower yellow,my favorite color.

my current one is a 70 c/10 that i have converted from 6/3pseed to a 327/350. but fore some reason everyone likes the 70's that i have had over the 68 gmc that i had. if i get rid of the current project i gonna get another 68 gmc,i really liked the leaf spring rear better.

I havent even gotten to drive mine yet, but when it was being delivered to my house, the seller was hauling it on a trailer and someone followed him to my house and my mom was standing outside the house watching it get unloaded and the dude was talking to her, and then asked if the owner wanted to sell it. She was all "its my son's, and he's buying it right now, so nope"

I've gotten a few offers, I just tell them I'll sell it for what I've spent on it. I'm not going to loose any money if I sell it, but $14000 is getting on up there.

Several people have asked if I wanted to sell the C/20 over the years but I cant go anywhere without someone commenting on it or asking about it, and its my daily driver. I've got a nice 69 camaro and Im rarely ever asked if I want to sell it. Can't wait to get the C/10 on the road, People love these things.

Talking

First I get the question, "Wanna Run". The next comment is DAMN, what do you have in that thing?! Followed by "look at the front fender"! (Crossed flags off a 'velle w/396.)

I was offered $5,500 at the last swap meet, but I told the guy $7,500. He wouldn't go higher than $6,500. (if i was smart, I would have taken it) I wasn't looking to sell, nor will I ever look to sell, unless I'm forced to eat my family as last resort. I shot him a high price, however, I have much more than that in the truck total. You will never get out what you put in, that's just a fact of life. The '67 is my baby and will be till the day I or my wife dies, which ever comes last.
