motor mount question for 292->'81 250 swap

Ok, I've tried to find this answer to this by searching and reading both around here, and via google, but so far no luck. So I'll ask you guys.

My dad and I have a '71 with a 292 engine, 3 speed manual saginaw transmission. The 292 is not fixable.

I have a 250 motor from a '81 pickup truck we're trying to install. It bolts up to the saginaw fine, but with the 292 motor mounts attached the engine sits in the compartment sideways. I know that on the 292 the mounts weren't across from each other as they are on the newer 250 motor..

So, does anyone know what combination of motor mounts would work right? Would the motor mount brackets from a truck with a 350 work?

Thanks!!
Patrick

Re: motor mount question for 292->'81 250 swap

move the passanger mount forward to next set of holes and the 292 mounts will work. move frame brackets with mount. hope this makes sense but its simbler than it sounds
