Regular hood or cowl induction hood?
I need to replace the hood that is on my truck. I like the looks of a cowl hood but I also like the looks of the regular hood so I am in between. Do I get a cowl or regulare hood? If cowl, metal or fiberglass?

Re: Regular hood or cowl induction hood?
why not post a pic of your truck in this thread so we can see and imagine how it would look with the cowl hood?

Re: Regular hood or cowl induction hood?
Metal cowl... for a DD. I bought a Harwood lift off for a 78 that I had and there was a large gap on both sides of the hood. You have to do some trimming for a good fit. The only reason I would buy a fiber hood is if your trying to cut weight for racing. I think metal is worth the extra $$'s.

Re: Regular hood or cowl induction hood?
I prefer the stock hoods on the 73-80s and cowl hoods on the 81-87s. The cowl hood works with the squared fender line on the 81-87 IMO.

Re: Regular hood or cowl induction hood?
I would post a pic but it won't look any where near what it is going to look like. Going from a stock height 4wd to a 2wd w/3"-5" drop. Here is my ideas if it will help: Olive Drab paint with a flat black Marine corps emblem on the hood. The size of the emblem depends on the hood.

Re: Regular hood or cowl induction hood?
metal cowl on the 80's definatley..
and the fiberglass ones can look retarded to say the least.. and dont last as good as you would think.. expecially if you mud... (of you got a mudder) annnd you can still sit on a cowl metal hood without freaking out and messing it up

Re: Regular hood or cowl induction hood?
Around here I have only seen one that has been modified, all the other ones are driven around by older men/women or used for work trucks. The one that was not stock was bagged with some body mods but no cowl hood. I had one on my previous squarebody but it was a fiberglass cowl that was put on a regular steel hood(stupid PO). It looked good from a distance but it looked like it was about to fly off when you got closer.

Re: Regular hood or cowl induction hood?
I did a poll like this a couple months back and was surprised how many people did not like cowl hoods.I say steel cowl hood though.

It all depends on the engine IMO.

Re: Regular hood or cowl induction hood?
383 with a lumpy idle and around 400-450 hp. It will have the bite to back up the look.
