BB LWP PS Setup Help - Pics/Advice Please.
After searching a while I just haven't been able to find any good pics of a BB with PS. I was asked today whether I needed a single or dual pulley and I really have no idea. How can I determine this? My crankshaft has 3 grooves with alt belt on the outside groove and also on the single groove water pump pulley, leaving the inside 2 grooves empty. Would that indicate I can use either a single or dual pulley on the PS pump? I used the March Perf bracket for PS. Unfortunately no pics of that yet...
Thanks! |

Great. Thanks.
A pic showing the crank pulley belt arrangement would be helpful. I haven't seen that info. Thanks again. Last edited by mole2000; 02-10-2009 at 07:25 AM. |

mole2000, unless you are going to change the entire accessory setup on your engine, the above pictures will not help you. You need a setup for a long water pump. These are much easier to find than the short water pump setup. Look at trucks with BB from '73 and up.

I took a shot of the pully and the front bracket as well as the tank. Let me know if you need any specific shots?
the fan schroud was in the way for most the pics. hope these help Looking at the long neck water pump u have puts your belt on the outer most pully groove The short waterpump puts it back so the p/s is the outter grove. Last edited by bsgmcc20; 02-11-2009 at 04:35 PM. |

Re: BB LWP PS Setup Help - Pics/Advice Please.
Great Photos. Thanks for that. It is at least getting a litle clearer for me.
I was able to get some shots today of March Perf PS Bracket installed. From what I am seeing, I need to run my PS belt to the outer groove on the crank pulley. I am also installing the March Alt Bracket. I hope that it moves the alternator back so i can use the outer groove for PS... Or should the PS pulley line up with the second groove on crank pulley? The pulley should be here Friday so it will be sorted out for sure then... Anybody see any potential problems with this? Am I mismatching components? Thanks! |
