That piece bolts to the front cab support. It provides a stable mounting point for the bottom of the front fender. If you don't have them, I would recommend finding some since that new piece is pretty thin.

Edit: Here's a better picture.

Re: WTB: I dont know what its called

if it wasnt for this thread i would not have known about it, as the 67, and the '72 parts truck did not have this... Maybe wes from classic , or John from Tri-plus will chime in.

Re: WTB: I dont know what its called

I'm just gonna use the old parts that I cut off to use as a backing then. You could buy another set of A-pillars and make a set...

Re: WTB: I dont know what its called

be aware the part discussed is different from the patch panels pictured. the bolt on part is very thick and sits in the craddle of the patch panel, and that lower pillar patch is sheetmetal. I ended up fabricating a second one for my 4x4 as one was gone. It's for reinforcement, but is about 1/16" thick

Just stamp the dimple and I'll do the hard work

We have the '60-'66 that are much more complicated. Three holes, nuts welded on, etc.

I am surprised nobody reproduces these.I had to rebuild mine. Most people don't know what they are unless you have worked on your lower "A" pillar.
