Re: Speakers?
I built some kick panels for 5.25" and 6*9 mounts in the cab corners, 1-2 channels of my amp running front/rear and 3-4 running my sub. Sounds pretty good for a work truck. (Nevermind the carpet on the 6*9 mounts, I havent gotten around to recovering them)

Re: Speakers?
Cool!
What should I do to upgrade my system? I'm not going to put anything in the doors because I put my feet on it and would destroy the speakers.

Re: Speakers?
You can do alot with audio, it all depends on your wallet...
Probably a set of 3.5" speakers in the dash, and pair of 6x9's or 5.25" speakers in the cab corners, and a shallow 12" sub will do it for most people. If your pockets are deeper, then you could start working towards something like I have or had, but trust me, it gets expensive; quick.

Re: Speakers?
I would invest in some dynomat or fatmat first. that will cut alot of the unwanted road noise. I plan on lining my cab with fatmat as its alittle bit easier on the wallet.

Re: Speakers?
Dont laugh. Everything in my trucks been free except wiring, and if i do say so myself, it sounds good, just needs some mids and highs up front.
Old kenwood, 4 speaker output, bass treble balance and fadar. Even has some subwoofer preouts. Two 8" mtxs and two alpine 6x9s circa 1989 i assume lol. I got some of the cab corner speaker brackets coming from bigblock73, may or may not install them in this truck. I do need some front audio so im thinking about making a bracket to mount 2 4" pioneers where the stock radio goes in the dash. Just gotta get the motive lol. Sounds good as is for a work truck so just gotta keep telling myself its fine dont touch it. haha.

Re: Speakers?
The bigger problem is no matter what you will not drown out that 6.2 rattle. You will need fully dyanmat, full new door seals, and then you may have a chance.
My 6.2 is so loud that I pulled the stereo out of the truck, got rid of the temptation to listen to it. That got rid of the ringing sound in my ears.

Re: Speakers?
Your best bet is definitely going to be the sound deadening route. Lots of it at that.
Fat Mat, Second Skin, Hushmat, and Dynamat are the best known. About 80sqft will completely cover the inside of the cab and allow you to double up in a few places. This will also provide a much better foundation for any stereo system upgrades you may be making later. I'm fanatical when it comes to sound deadening. It's insane how much I have in my truck and guess what? I'm only gonna do more...
