Question Can anyone find this engine code???

I'm tring to find my engine code for my 67. I looks to be the orignal
engine so it should be a 1967 327 but I can't find the code. The whole thing is FO3OIHCR. The best I came up with is HC and thats a 67 327. So whats
the R or the I ???
Thanks A.J.

Re: Can anyone find this engine code???

Here are the possibles I came up with:

HC = 1965 327 Powerglide 275 4 full size
HC = 1969 350 m/t 250 2 A F X
CR = 1958 283 m/t, 3 spd 250 Fuel Injected Vette (that would be a good find!!)

to narrow it down I would look for the date code and casting number on the back of the block ..

Re: Can anyone find this engine code???

here's what I came up with from a book called chevrolet by the number's.
F is for assembly plant (flint michigan)
03 is for assembly month (march)
I think the i could be a 1 if so,01 is for assembly day(first day of the month)
HCR is the suffix code for a 275 hp 327 with rochester carb. backed with a powerglide trans.
hope this help's and or is correct ,Ted

dr_g0nz0_77:

I Had a 1967 camaro rs with a factory 327 with camel hump heads. I noticed the post you have done here is this the stamp on the passenger side front head plate. Do you have the Numbers off the bellhousing ledge behind the distributor hole. Out of the information that i researched on my 327 if it starts with 37, 38 or 39 on that "cast number ",

http://www.nastyz28.com/sbchevy/sblock.php

also has engine decoder list

If you find a 327 from a couple of "ol' timers" that i talked to back east. They have told me that some of the "stamp" numbers on the front of the motor are not correct. The casting number and the snow flake will give you the best idea of the block. Hope this might help
