Simple Question

I don't know how to go about asking this question. This truck is the first one Ive restored EVER...and there is a question that just keeps weighing on the back of my mind.

I put the brand new carpet kit in my truck a couple months ago. But, the very end of the carpet seam that points towards the firewall there is a gap...like something is supposed to be there.. I never thought of it until I installed the carpet kit. Then I tried to think back to my grandpas restored 66 and dont remember something being there...

So, I guess my question is, Im probably going to sound retarded for asking this, but on a 1969 pickup is there like a piece of cardboard material or plastic that goes over the carpet and up under the dash to cover the metal exposed there? or am I just thinking about this for no reason?

Re: Simple Question

Not sure if I understand your question correctly, but yes there are pieces of cardboard with foam backing that cover part of the exposed metal above the carpet. But they don't cover all the exposed metal above the carpeting and under the dash. I'll see if I can post a pic tomorrow if no one has one for you.

Vendors sell this cardboard pieces.
