If it were me, I would go with the 6.0.

6.0, but keep it fuel injected.

454's are hogs compared to these LS motors. Plus fuel injected

Re: 6.0 or 454
Uhhh, I think you mean HAWGS.
Hey seriously, in my opinion it would be a major step backwards to convert any LS motor to carb. I would have definately done a 6.0 with 4l80e complete swap in mine if I had not already had the 454HO hawg sitting in the garage.

i' m going w/ the 5.3 myself because they are easy to get (might have a line on one from down south already) instant 300 hp and 16-22 mpg. and they are bullet proof, awesome motors. put a mild cam in it and your looking at closer to 350hp. my goat has the ls2 6.0 w/ aluminum block/heads and is just a monster. the truck 6.0 are mostly iron blocks/alum. heads which = 200lbs heavier. just a little info to help your decision... The truck locks are not that heavy. There is only about 90 lbs difference in the weight of the block. If you get an older iron headed 5.3 or 6.0, I could see 200 lbs heavier. Aluminium Block = 90 lbs. Iron block = 180 Lbs

Re: 6.0 or 454
I would go with the 454. Most of the LS engines here in the winter sound like diesels when they start up becouse the short skirt pistons rock. I even drove a truck right from the dealer that had a new crate engine installed and even it rattled when cold plus the parts are more expensive.

Re: 6.0 or 454
depends on what kind of money you have to spend. 454 is the cheaper route for sure.

Re: 6.0 or 454
id go with the 6.0l, i just bought a crate motor. but its diffrent over here, parts are easy to get for the LS motors, and the 454s are hard to find and more expensive to build.

Re: 6.0 or 454
sorry to say i called my buddy with the denali motor yesterday morning after the post when i just talked to him the night before and that dude sold it man i was pissed but anyway now i got a line on another one but what do you need to have it running on its own and yeah ill keep it efi or does it just drop in as long as you have all the stock comps to go with it well with the exception of new motor mounts

Re: 6.0 or 454
yeah im going with a l92 6.2 cadillac motor i found for a good price the people installing it say they can use the tranny from it to but i didnt think that was possible with the 6 speed 6l80e unless you had a stand alone comp but they say itll work as long as you have all the stock hardware from the chassis which it does have so will it work????

Re: 6.0 or 454
Nothing beats the look of a dressed up Rat moter when you pop the hood!! Yeah i Know the LS motors will get better mileage and they run very strong but......they are just plain ugly! That is a deal on the 6.0 at 700 bucks though.

Re: 6.0 or 454
6.0 fuel injected. LQ4 or LQ9 doesn't really matter. I am personally putting the 6.0 LQ9 in my project and we just recently put one in my father in laws jeep. And as stated above, they are ugly, but I think the performance makes up for it. You can paint a few pieces on the 6.0 and at least make it presentable.
