OK,, you got a quick look at her so a brief BIO. I just hit 40 and hopefully this is my midlife crisis, what could be cooler. I've been married a while, if I said a long time my wife would kill me. We have a daughter that's a freshman at OSU (GO POKES) and a son that turns 21 in two months. Both of them are out of the house and dad needs a new hobby. I've always enjoyed getting dirty under the hood, not working on the new stuff but the old, things that you could watch go up and down without needing a PC. Things that used ½, 9/16/ ¾, not 12mm, 11mm, and so forth. I grew up working in a shop, fixing cars (I had a 68 IH pickup, 76 Malibu Classic, and a 73 MG convertible growing up. I then went off to the Army for 10 years and then spent another 10 raising a family in Oklahoma and getting to a point where I can have a hobby like this. I have been looking over this site for months and you guys are something else. Some of the things you have done with these trucks is amazing. So sit back and take a look at my journey, I hope it's worthy of this site, if not at least I'll have a good time getting there!!.

Well it sounds like the history of wrench turning is there. I'm an 18 year old that had the fascination of old vehicles from childhood so one day I hope to say the same. And no, it's not a midlife crisis, it's an adiction far worse than any bag of 100% crack.

I 100% agree with you. My pick-up was exactly a reaction to the newer vehicles and some of the issues I was having. I love old vehicles, and I get to avoid the emmision police out here in the Valley.

I'm going to throw this one out there and will post pictures later, goes toward the money pit title (Broken housing). I've got to put a new tran in the tuck, 350 or 700r? I've already got a longblock 350 to replace the 230 (Pictures are on the way). So, 350 or 700r?

Thats not all that bad, i wish mine was only half as bad once i got mine home and looked under the mats lol. It was a pretty bad rust bucket and paid 2000 for mine if that helps take the sting out of your price.

More Progress, got the engine out, received new bushing for the cab and got them replaced this weekend. Hoping this week and weekend is nice so that I can get the engine compartment cleaned, some hole patched up, and repainted.

Do I need to replace the engine mounts on the frame? I'm replacing a 230 with a '71 350? Thanks

i believe you have to change the mounts, but the "trees" on the frame will work
