ok... there's more to it than just trying to mock see ten... although, I will admit to wanting to be like him if I grow up.

I was finally able to get the tranny out of the burb...

And even though the fluid it's bleeding in the above pic (and all in the back of the longhorn) is red.... don't let it fool you.

The sludge in the bottom of the ban was not red. There was chunks of clutch in there.
I *hope* to get a chance to run it over to Mr Bill the tranny guy this week. Then again, the tranny actually came out LAST sunday, and I've been saying I hope to get a chance all friggen week.
To say it was cold in there is an understatement. I can't remember the actual temp, but I know it dropped about 15 to 20 degrees from when I got there till the time I left.

I plan on fine tuning the drop while it is laid up. I want to bring the front down a bit more, and firm up the rear... or raise the rear a tad. Right now it sits higher up front, and the rear axle slams into the frame when you even consider hitting a ciggarette butt in the road. So some trimming on the coils in front, and some helper in-the-coil type air bags in back should do the trick. it needs a C notch... but I'm not ready to commit to that quite yet.
Plus, i can't weld to save my life.
So I leave my baby up on jackstands at all 4 corners, and tires in the back room stacked up.

As I head out the door and hit the lights... I have an idea... sure, it's a direct rip off of see ten's efforts... but, in all honesty, it's one I've wanted to do for a long time now.

There's a shop we deal with all the time at work, there garage is actually a very old church that was converted to a shop in the 20's acording to the guys who work there. It's all very old brick, and rooms built out of wooden planks... I'd love to take good pics of the joint, but there is a key board inside the office there that I want to own real bad.

And the ORIGINAL title... look at the dates on this. I don't even know if the state of Oregon still has titles that look like this. Heck, look when it was signed over by the original owner and his wife.... back in 86!

And then a few pics of the truck he got for parts.... 71 cheyenne C/10. He mostly wants the grill and core support for another 72 cheyenne he may be buying, the front bumper will go on the skunk, the rear slider window in the K/20, the 305 chevy that was in it has already been sold and delivered, then a few odds and ends here and there for his stuff.... the rest of it I hope to pick over, I hope to get the seat, some under dash A/C stuff and the front and rear complete suspentions. The tranny will probably get sold as a core, the cab and frame probably scrapped or sold off eventually.

oh yeah... the stock tilt will go in the skunk too...

Nothing else much goingon here sadly enough.

i just wish it'd warm up a bit so we can get some friggen work done.

Seems like a sweet little shop besides the lack of heat. Too bad you aren't down south though. I'm sure you'd hate to hear that it was 65 all day, slightly windy. That was our sudden "Cold Front". I had on a T-shirt and jeans. Powder coatin' and wiring stuff on the CST10.

Ah, the lack of a real winter is nice.

Thats what i was thinking. 4 walls and a roof, sure does beat the working outside with a big ole stick. The biggest thing is it keeps the wind off ya.

The pictures are cool, maybe not as cool as the temperature but cool.

The rear helper springs made a world of differance in the 71 ride. No more bottoming out. I had to call them and get some larger spacers though so the fittings would work.

Nice photos, and like they said. At least you are working indoors. My driveway is steep, so taking the trans out will be interesting to say the least.

I can't do it in the street as a local deputy sheriff, has already had my el camino and the truck impounded once before. That was a $600 buck waisted, just to get my vehicles out of the impound yard. Both vehicles have current registration and are insured.

As for our winter here in LaLaLand.... it was close to 80 degrees today, almost had to put a sweatshirt on

I agree with what was said before, cold and a shop beats warm and no shop. Yeah it has been in the 70's and 80s in central/ southern Texas the last few weeks, but it still sucks when I have to work on my burb in my gravel driveway. Tools and small fittings getting lost in the grass, and soon it will be so hot out that I won't be able to touch any sheetmetal while working on my truck without getting a 3rd degree burn.
