Couldn't help but post this.

Obviously looking for some "stimulus" money.

Re: Giggle Giggle.....

Few things I noticed you get with that price tag....

First there's the homegrown wood stuff and the cutout stereo hole for a DIN style

then there's the rusty master cylinder, and just the all around filthyness

Come on man, seriously??? Clean that beast at least!!!

I don't know about California but around here that would be a 5 to 10 thousand dollar truck tops. plus they didn't even write a description of the truck

for that money i could build a real kick @$$ truck compared to that thing, if it were more around 10 000 then it would be okay.

Re: Giggle Giggle.....

He may get a bit ticked off by the real an honest offers he gets for that truck if any.

The truck looks like a decent 5/6,000 driver quality truck tops maybe a bit more if it looks better in person.

I rather like the wood even if the guy could have done a bit better job of it. I've been thinking of having my glove box and gage panel wood grained by a friend who can do an impressive job. Unlike some folks I don't mind the dash being cut for a decent radio, It must beat the daylights out of the stock non working AM radio in my truck.

But for 44K I could put up a nice shop and then do a full redo on my truck (either one) and have enough left over to take a long cruise in it when I was done.

Re: Giggle Giggle.....

The company selling it cruises Evil bay, Craig'slist, and other
sites and then approaches you and offers to list it. They get
a % of the final value like Evil bay but promise you that it will
get national attention with top notch marketing. They called
me 3 times on my Maroon Jimmy and I turned them down.

EDIT: Sad part is about 1 out of every 10 try's they do score.

Re: Giggle Giggle.....

Jim, you're right on the stimulus motive. Heck, when I get paid for working two weeks, all I get is a nudge.

That may be HIS impression of a restoration, but it ain't a fresh resto and I don't call it a resto, at all. Restification, maybe, but no restoration. Then, I am a bit anal when people say they restored a vehicle. I think of AACA class restoration quality and content, not what he has. It doesn't look bad, but not 45K....no way.

Re: Giggle Giggle.....

I doubt it is a $44500 truck but you guys don't know California prices. The Motor, Trans, Gear Vendors OD and 9 in rear with disc brakes is $20,000 to have them all done by professionals. Here's what I paid 383 (block and heads from my dad's truck)$3000 in machine work and parts. T400 $300 plus $1200 to have it rebuilt. 208 trans case $200 plus $400 in parts to rebuild, GV OD $3500 plus $140 to shorten drive shaft. 14 bolt corp rear end $300 plus $600 in parts to change gear ratio. That's almost $10,000 and I did most of the work myself. He will not get $44500 but if he waits for the economy to turn around I'll bet he can get 25 or 30 out here. Maybe I should go look at it since he is only about 15 miles from me

Re: Giggle Giggle.....

I just looked at it again and that Edelbrock Tuned Port injection is about $3000 from Jegs. Also I think the tail lights are under the paint. I think the same guy that painted my truck may have did this one I'm going to check tomorrow.

I'm with you on the accumulated value of all the parts in that truck.....I know it can add up in a BIG hurry, But at the end of the day, you can throw all the most expensive parts you want at an old truck and if it's not executed correctly, the value just ain't there. Hell, you could even execute it perfectly and never recoup what you have in something.

The guy advertising it is a dealer and his motto probably is that there's an ass for every seat and if he's really really really really (20 more) lucky, he'll find that one.......well......ass!

Just by looking at the pics, I'd have a hard time giving him more than $10k....and I'm in California.

Re: Giggle Giggle.....

haysonj, having moved about a little, I've lived on the East Coast, West Coast, and several points in between, and having lived in Santa Maria for a while (my wife was born and raised there), I'm familiar with the cost of doing things in several regions. Even the fact it's in Nopomo, CA (which explains the dirt on the truck) it doesn't justify that price. Aside from a few higher dollar pieces, I think that truck could be replicated for a lot less money, or it would end up as nice/nicer. Not to say it isn't a decent truck, but I think I would have paid some attention to a few details before I took pictures of a truck I was going to ask someone to give me $45,000 for.

I'm with you on that I was just mentioning the cost of all the goodies on that truck. If I ever did it again (and I won't)I would buy someone else's project and save myself 50% but then it wouldn't be me would it
