SCORE!
now you need a casette adapter into the 8-track, and then a CD adapter into the casette adapter and your walk man on the seat and you'll be set!
J/K, that is an awsome score though.

The answer will make ya sick...

I rec'd a call from a friend of a friend that was a parts manager at a GM dealership in the 70's-80's. It seams that whenever GM discontinued anything or changed #'s, he was responsible for taking the remaining items off the shelf and...Destroying!...them.
However , some items were thankfully placed gingerly into the dumpster and retrieved later ,away from the prying eyes of the executives. This was one such piece ,and sadly so ,the only radio. I did ask if he had any 8 tracks and he did not.He does have sheetmetal but is holding onto it for timebeing.I do not know what exact pieces he has as he did not offer a viewing.
I know I got lucky on the price. He set it and I couldn't bring myself to counter-offer. The NOS radio plus the 8 track and the NOS 8 track holders mounted to the lower doors will be going in the 71 Blazer I'm restoring. Sorry ,it won't be for sale. I did recieve alot of PM's and emails on this and I will return messages asap...Merry Christmas to all and Happy Holidays
Charlie

Is it a multiplex fm radio or just a mono radio?

mono or multi-plex

I believe it is a mono as it came with a single nos speaker..however, the info I've rec'd says that when you hook it up to the 8 track you can run dual speakers...the speaker wires from the 8 track confirm this.

i wonder where the speakers were placed when the 8-track player was installed. Would they be i raised boxes on the doors? Or would they be in the kick panel?

speakers

There was a guy on this site millions of posts ago...maybe even Blazer-net.. (Tommy Matthison) was his name, I believe , that had an nos dual speaker set-up for 8 tracks. They mounted below the dash. If I recall right ,some fellows discounted whether or not it was for trucks, but now having an 8 track it would definately make sense.

GREAT Score!! I find 8-tracks at the Salvation Army Thrift Store. 25 cents each or 5 for $1.00 If you can't find any I'll look and pick you some up some time.

What a score!! I would like to have something like that if I ever do a stock resto. I have a AM/FM that I don't think works but then again I've never hooked it up either. Is it worth much? Seriously!?
