Question 72 gmc and 72 chevy k10 short advice

Ijust looked at two trucks tonight. Both are k10 short beds. Both have 350 4 barrel, four speed, power steering, power brakes and spotlights in the roof. They are identical except one is gmc and one is chevy. Not alot of rust on either. the Chevy is some kind of yellow but it is original. The motor is all there including the points distributor but it is not running. He said it did but the cam is "flat" in his words. the gmc is repainted blue and is much more beat up but not really rusty as far as I could tell in the dark with a good flashlight. THe gmc has mice nests and hasn't run in 5 years. Tell me what you think. I tend to get carried away because they are complete and the chevy is real straight and has original everything. But taking out all emotion I need opinions on what to offer. Basically they want to get rid of them but they wont give an asking price. THey both don't run. THey have been in the paper for a week and I am the first to call. The ad sucked, it said 72 gmc truck make offer, it didn't say anything about the chevy.

I would have to agree with Gee_Emm. The owners might just go for it or offer them for a slightly higher price.

Buy them both!!! I sure would. Around here, just a bare 72 swb 4x4 frame goes for $1000. I can't understand paying a thousand bucks for for just a frame, but people do buy them. Anyway, offer a low price, but even if they don't run, they would be worth buying,

I looked at both of them today in the daylight. I am goint to meet the guy on Saturday morning with cash in hand. He needs to talk to his brother about the chevy. The gmc is pretty dented up. The chevy looks really good-perfect grille rust in only one place, drivers rocker. cab corners solid. Myproblem now is I rent a house with no place to put two more trucks. Minor detail.

Here is the problem. It is a couple of hours until I try to make the deal. Who knows, maybe I'll come home empty handed. I need to solidify my strategy. Kind of a pain in the keister haggling for stuff. My cousin loves it, I don't.

speaking of Kiester, I am sitting on mine with cash in my pocket waiting for the owner to get back from hunting montain lions (no joke) I checked the motors and they are TDG. 72 350 with manual trans. Just what they should be. I got the chevy running, probably on 3 or 4 cylinders. Everyting else worked fine, even the stock cigarette lighter. The GMC is identical except it has a chrome front bumper. THey have four speeds. IT is not listed on the glove box door, which tranny would that be? What is good? I have read the numbers of the different ones but I don't know about them. Thanks

Robby, GOOD LUCK on these 4x4's. Man I wish I could find them around here. Ones that are beat up around here go for $1000 or more, you just don't find them here. Especially swb's. Randy

Hopefuly you will be able to get a good deal on them. Out here, the cheapest I have ever seen one go for was $600 for a really beat up 67 swb with no engine or front clip. I still wish I had bought it, becuase I haven't seen another one for sale (swb) for less than $5 or 6k since.

Score-at least a partial score. I got the GMC. It runs and I should be able to drive it home. The chevy is another matter. The engine is bad in it but it is so straight I would really pay more for it than I did for the GMC. I am satisfied for the most part. The GMC will be a good truck, its just ugly for now. The guys brother owns the chevy and he is pretty cranky according to his brother. He will be in on Thursday, I'll try for it then.
