What HEI Ignition to get?
Can you recommend one for my 68? something reasonable in price, but I don't want to buy junk either. I think that I have a 350 or 327? not sure, does it matter?
Thank you. |

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
Get on e-bay and look up skip white. They have a good name for inexpensive COMPLETE HEI units. I have one on the suburban and it is great.
Small block/big block of any CID (with the exception of the tall deck med duty truck engines) all use the same HEI body. |

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
I did a search for "skip white" with NO results.
Longhorn, when you have time, can you please send me the link of the HEI you purchased from EBay? or send me the EBaY link of the seller. Muchas Gracias! |

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
took me a moment to find him myself... his e-bay name is not skip white, but that is the buisness name.
here's a link to one, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SBC-B...mZ250389723475 This one has a hotter coil, looks exactly like an accell coil to me, except red. I'm sure if you sent him an e-mail, i'd bet a kick to the crotch he has a normal one for cheaper. |

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
I just ordered another one from him a couple of days ago for my buddies '68. He is out of the older 40k ones. All he has in stock is the hotter coils. Great product. I would definitely recommend him!

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
That's a good price. At swap meets, you could pick one up for 20 bucks. By the time you put a new cap and rotor you are almost at Skip White's asking price.
Also, some of the swap meet stuck is high milage and may need other parts.

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
Longhorn, thank you for the link. What about the wires?
"Skip W. strongly recommends the universal 90 degree wires, as they will fit perfect" will I be paying too much for these wires? or are they worth it? The link to the wires is below: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/SPARK...mZ270345915800 Last edited by OregonC20; 03-15-2009 at 05:18 PM. |

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
I missed out on one of these White distributors a while back by a few minutes but not this time. I got one ordered.

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
Boog, which wires are you getting for the distributor you ordered?
I ordered one today but don't know what wires to get? in the ad Skip W. "strongly recommends the universal 90 degree wires". I think that am going to get those wires too? |

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
guys use the 75 vette wires because they had HEI and ramhorns, they should fit nicely.. I got mine at NAPA...
That is the best deal on HEi's... I just put my $150 Mallory unit in a beater truck since it's to big for my 68 K-10. I should have picked up a skipwhite one... still might.

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
Very cool!
Does anybody know where to get the "factory" wire loom kit that goes under the manifold like they show in this pic? I did a search in their store and then on ebay and didn't see any. I'm kind of tired of draping my wires over the valve covers, I want an old school set of edelbrock valve covers and I don't want them obstructed

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
magross, I did a search in the Napa website for wires for a 75 Corvette and I got 3 results for wires, mileage plus, premium and universal. the link below is for the premium. Are these the wires the guys are using to go along with the distributor from White at ebay that I purchased that Longhorn recommended ?

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
The spark plug heat shields and wire retainers are available from LMC also to run the wires behind the manifolds. Maybe from others as well.

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
Am I looking at something wrong? I already have the heat shields, just not the loom that bolts to the block.

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
Thanks for the link. I also ordered one. Has anyone used his mini starters and 1-wire altenators ? Seems to have really good prices on most of his items.

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
I've got a red Procomp mini starter like Skip White sells and it works fine. I also have had two one wire alternators and they are ok, except you have to rev up the engine to get the self exciting internal regulator to turn on and start charging. Personally, if you have a stock alternator, I would stick with that set up or maybe go with the GM 3 wire internal regulated alternator.

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
I bought the back ones labeled "support" from the truck shop catalog.. They hold all four wires.

Re: What HEI Ignition to get?
I guess that picture that you posted has the front wires a little tighter... i've seen them come up from near the motor mounts...
