I have seen a few of the FAQ's and threads for color changing door panels dash pads and arm rests. What about seats? Re-covering can be really expensive. Can seats be painted or dyed? Any suggestions for manufacturers?

im interested in to know this too. im building a 94 for my wife and the seats are in great condition, but they are blue and do not match the black paint job.

What you want is a product called COLORBOND works great on seats and is tough as nails a little expensive but well worth it and a much cheaper way match or change interior colors.

Is the seat vinyl or fabric? I have seen both done with mixed results. One was vinyl and done with the SEM Vinyl dye and it looked good for awhile but after a few months it started to wear and rub off on the guys cloths. That would not be good for she who controls all. The other was fabric and done with SEM and held up well but took like a week to fully dry. I say either recover the seat or use a correct color seat cover.

I would do the door panels but I don't think I would do the seat. I would just throw a cover over it until I came up with the money to have it covered

Look at the colorbond web site and you might change your mind, Their product is far superior to the sem dyes which in my opinion are not that great. It is specially designed for exactly what you want to do. The effects are permanent it wont rub off, crack, or peel. I have used all of the different manufacturers products over the years in my shop and for own personal use. Just my opinion as someone who works on auto interiors everyday.
