Check out this very custom 1970 Chevy C10
Sold for $93,500. With a 470hp, 502 cu. in. Chevrolet V8 engine, automatic transmission, independent front suspension with coil springs and stabilizer bar, live rear axle with custom coil springs, ladder bars and torque arms, four-wheel disc brakes. Wheelbase: 127".
The Chevrolet C10 Custom Truck offered here is a wonderful blend of classic styling and artful customization. Constructed by Mike Chrisman, Darwin “Squeak” White, and Steve Davis, names that require no introduction in California hot rodding circles, it features exacting craftsmanship and many details and features that are only apparent upon closer inspection. Chrisman and White first set their sights on the original chassis, which they boxed and narrowed to accommodate the unusual wheel and tire combination, featuring dual rear wheels. Three tubular cross members were added, mounting the pickup points for the front and rear suspension and power train assemblies. The front suspension features custom-built shock absorbers, dropped spindles, modified A-arms, and an anti-sway bar. The result is a lower ride height with full suspension travel. Meanwhile, the rear suspension features a beautifully polished rear end and axle housing, along with coil springs and hand-fabricated ladder bars. Four-wheel disc brakes bring the truck to a rapid halt, and the fat radial tires are wrapped around six 16 x 8-inch Alcoa aluminum wheels. The legendary Art Chrisman prepared the 502 cubic inch “Rat” motor, featuring a forged crankshaft, connecting rods and pistons. Induction is via a set of Edelbrock cylinder heads and an electronic fuel injection system prepared by AZ Speed & Marine. Hand-fabricated exhaust headers by Rod Sexton expel the spent gases. The result is a remarkable 515 foot-pounds of torque and 470 horsepower. The radical bodywork was conducted by master fabricator Steve Davis and “Squeak” White. Davis applied his magic touch, seamlessly grafting late-model Chevrolet truck wheel wells to the existing bed, while White “chopped” the top, and hand-fabricated the custom grille and surrounds, headlight openings, among many other features. Upon completion, and with fewer than 100 test miles traveled, this stunning creation was driven by Joe MacPherson and “Squeak” White on the 2,500-mile Hot Rod Power Tour, confirming its drivability, reliability, sound construction and execution. That is the truck that Joe McPherson had built, then drove from San Francisco to Florida. There was a feature article on it that took two months of issues to publish. I think it was Classic Trucks magazine. The workmanship is incredible. The attention to detail is mind-boggling. My mind thinks someone nicknamed "Squeak" did a lot of the work on it. The wheelwells are '88-98, which is what I reference whenever anyone shows a pic of a '67-72 that has an '88-98 Stepside bed on it.
There is no way anyone could build that truck for less than $100K, today. You should find the magazines that featured it and see for yourself. Just read the initial post and I was right about "Squeak". Whew!

That is a very nice truck but the color kills it in my liking, however if I am spending 93k in one of these buckets I would withdraw a little more money and buy this one for 150K since obviously money is no object if you can afford 93k. Fesler Built c10....

$93,500? Come on. Ok so the craftsmanship is second to none..... but why would someone want to change the looks of what most of us consider the best looking truck out there. Dual rear wheels? Not to mention after completion of the beautiful chassis someone drove it over $2500 miles across who knows what. You could easily build the same truck minus the (IMO) ugly body modificatiions that ruined the look. Of course this would be most of the work being done yourself. To the right person this truck is probably worth it, but I agree with the others. Copperhead would have been my choice for the money, and Fesler's truck is up there too. Just my opinion

McPherson's truck was built about 5 or 6 years ago. The trend then, is not what it is now. So, the look is different in comparison. McPherson was a Chevy dealer, as I understood the magazine, and he had the money to build what he wanted....which he did. That truck has a pedigree, in the way that Copperhead does and as Fesler's trucks do. I wish you guys could see the pix of the chassis and the detail work that went into it. This truck was the first one that I remember seeing that had the drip rail removed. Whether you like it or not, you still gotta respect the workmanship that went into creating it. The purpose of driving it cross-country was to prove that it was road-worthy and the owner wasn't afraid of putting a show truck on the road. The fact that the owner is in Florida, says McPherson probably didn't have to drive it back to California.

I completely agree with you chevloray when it comes to the craftsmanship, and the fact that he proved this truck was roadworthy. I think we can all agree that the 67-72 trucks were and are really good looking trucks the way they were originally. I dont have a problem with chassis and other mods, I just dont understand major body mods like changing the wheel wells and weird stuff like that. I have learned one thing, and that is personal taste is subjective and not everyone has to like what I like. I just dont see someone giving that much for it, but I am sure whoever bought it loves it and that is all that matters.

I have the December 2000 issue of Sport Truck....they drove the truck in the Power Tour 2000.....2574 miles round trip from Cali to Florida and back.
If I can get my scanner to work I will post the pics and article. It is some nice craftsmanship......but the finished product just doesn't look "right" to me.
