steering wheel install help

Hi All,

I need some help installing a steering wheel (1970, 3/4 ton, no tilt). I took the old steering wheel off (looks like from a later model, whoever installed it had to cut the back of it off to get it to fit). With the steering wheel off, I have the turn signal cam. I have nothing else between the tun signal cam and the back of the steering wheel. Looking at the LMC catalog it looks like I need a few more parts (spring & plastic housing). Does anyone know the order of installation and if I will need any other parts? I did bolt the steering wheel on and it had about 1/2 inch of vertical play in it. Will installation of the remaining parts take this play out? The steering wheel I have is out of a mid 70's truck so maybe this is causing some of the play as well. I am not going to mess with the horn button stuff right now (I have the horn disconnected).

Thanks for any help.

Re: steering wheel install help

Thanks for the references. Does the LMC catalog have the correct parts in the correct order? Does the spring fit between the bearing and the plastic housing (item #11 in catalog)?

Thanks again.

Look at that thread I sent you....they talk about that....from what they say, I don't think it is shown in the correct order
