Re: roll bar qestion

Wouldn't that mean that a convertible car would need a roll bar too? I have a factory bar in mine that I am going to pull out as soon as I get everything going, cause i agree that a 2wd blazer doesn't need one. But hey to each their own.

Re: roll bar qestion

you got a point there on the convertable car's... i was just recently going to give mine away intill. a the gentle men told me that with out the roll bar in the back of the blazer no one is allowed to ride in the back.... i dont' know how true this is but would like to find out, if so then no one will be riding in the back of my blazer i guess because i'am not putting the ugly thing back in....

Re: roll bar qestion

i did a search of vehicle code and didn't find anything http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/vc/vc.htm
that dosent mean there isn't something like that in local ordanances. I would call a local law enforcement official (whoever would pull you over for traffic violations) and ask them

If it was not made into your truck at the factory then they can not make a law to have one. Can you ride in the back of a pickup truck in CA?

Re: roll bar qestion

i beleave it's the factory roll bar. i have seen other's blazer's on line with the same roll bar. it's not a real thick one. i do remember about 5,6 year's ago maybe a little longer people use to be able to ride in the back of pick-up truck's out here but i beleave that is against the law know...

Yes. I hate the fabbed one in my 73 (see pic below - it's just as ugly with the foam removed). I'd much prefer a factory one.

Re: roll bar qestion

I am interested in the factory one...2wd is that the factory one...checking seatbelts in vehicles prior to 1977 in FL is pointless, because it was not mandatory equipment, and we can not issue a citation for something that was not required in your vehicle when it was manufactured. You would probably want to put seatbelts in for the safety of your passengers...

Re: roll bar qestion

i dont think its a law, a cruised around without one for a while and nothing happened, and mine didnt factory come with one so i dont think they could make that a law, if anything does come up just say yours didnt come factory with a rollcage, i bet it would be like seatbelts, didnt come with them didnt need em, but i doubt its a law

I am not sure about your state, but Florida does not have a law about that. I am trying to find a roll bar for my 1974 K-5, if you know anybody wanting to get rid of theirs...

That would be great...a big help for me in the restoration of my 74...thanks. What law enforcement agency has jurisdiction over your location...I have friends in law enforcement all over the place, I will call someone and find out...let me know what city state zip you are in.

Re: roll bar qestion

Factory2wd, I just talked to a Lt. of the California Highway Patrol, and he advised that if it is a factory option roll bar, and not a factory required roll bar you can remove it. He says that the Federal Vehicle Roll Over Standard that applies to that vehicle states that if it does not affect the structural integrity of the vehicle, and the roll bar is not required for the structural integrity, you can get rid of it, and should not be issued a citation from the CHP for riding passengers in the vehicle.
