Anyone done Boss 338 20's with spacers/adapters?
I talked with a guy today about running the Boss 338's in a 20x8.5 with a +28 offset and 1 1/4 inch spacer/adapters...He assured me that this will work and look good but I'm not sure...Any pics, experience, ideas, would be greatly appreciated.
Right now I'm running 15x8 - 245/60/15 15x10 - 275/60/15 I'd probably go with a 245/40/20 and a 275/40 or 35/20

why would you want to run a 1 1/4 spacer when you could just run 20x10 inch size on the back instead of the 8.5?

They dont come in the right bolt pattern, so you'd have to have a adapter/spacer. I have been looking at this same setup because I want those wheels with the grey finish.

Ya the guy I talked to said the spacer is needed to make the wheel fit the hub and also to change the bolt pattern to a 5x4.5 He said that with the adapter and the offset etc...everything would line up just how I want it. Idk though. He said he'd send me 1 wheel and 1 adapter to see if it would work, which I might do. But the Portland swap meet is this weekend so I'm freakin out cause I might just cave and buy some Coy's.

Be forewarned that your grease cap will not clear up front. You might aske them what they are doing about that.

Re: Anyone done Boss 338 20's with spacers/adapters?
I had a friend that just ordered these in 18x9.5 and I just assumed that the 20 inch also came in 5x5. I did some searching though and found that boss is suposed to be comming out with a 20x10 in 5x5 soon. So I would contact boss first about that and the problem N2TRUX mentioned. I think it would look better without the spacer and more wheel lip.

Re: Anyone done Boss 338 20's with spacers/adapters?
I would think that the spacers would give the room to clear the grease caps, correct? I have 1" spacers on the front of my 72' so I could run my KMC Kustoms....

Re: Anyone done Boss 338 20's with spacers/adapters?
Funny how things change. This topic was brought up about four months ago on the site. At that time, I called Boss/American Eagle about the possibility of a 20X10 in a 5X5 bolt pattern and their exact words were, "this may be something we offer in the future, but we have no immediate plans for such a wheel". Since the topic came up again, I checked the Boss website and found they now have a part number for a 20x10 in a 5x5 b.p. Hardly able to contain myself, I called J.D. Wheels in Columbus, OH (they move a lot of these wheels) about it and they called Boss directly. Boss confirmed that they have a part number for the wheel, but can't and won't speculate on when it will be available.
J.D. said the best thing to do, would be to check in periodically. Seems like we are getting closer. |

Re: Anyone done Boss 338 20's with spacers/adapters?
Ya, I called JD as well but it didn't give me much hope. I have a connection with a Les Schwab Manager and he was actually about to charge my credit card for a down payment on the first shipment and then called it off because Boss went back and said they actually didn't know when or if it would happen. I've got some cash burning a hole in my pocket and I want rims so bad I don't know if I can wait...Thanks for looking into it for me

Re: Anyone done Boss 338 20's with spacers/adapters?
Also remember that a 5 on 5 bolt patern is not used on many cars/trucks if you plan on keeping the truck and wheels for along time buy 5 on 5 but if you dont plan on keeping it i would go with 5 on 4.5 alot of cars/trucks use that bolt patern ie ford ,dodge some euro stuff
if you have to buy adapters anyway tou might as well get a patern that will work on alot of other vehcles |
